chapter twenty one

Time flew fast, in the meantime school continued. I did well in my grades as usual and also succeeded in making Sam jealous, seeing as I had grown close to Steven he was in pain, I could see it, he was hurt and I felt good about it. at least he should also taste a little of what I had been going through when he was parading Vicky in front of me.
Many thought there was something fishy going on between I and Steven and even my cousins were giving me suspicious looks. J-bee even asked me one time and I claimed I was just been friendly. Rita was against the idea of me using Steven to get Sam jealous and she insisted I stopped.
Sam's pride stood high and he still wouldn't talk to me, even though sometimes he would stare at me in class. He stopped hanging out with Vicky and seems reserved these days, his friend Jerry had talked to me one time and told me to forgive his friend Sam, he said Sam had no intention to hurt me, that it was all a lot of complications. I told him Sam should be the one explaining not him.
I told myself I wouldn't be the first to talk to him.

Steven was actually nice to me, I find myself slowly enjoying his company. He was pretty cool unlike the rumors I had heard about him, I also found out more about him. He was an only child and he had two adopted sisters, he was very nice to me and had once told me I reminded him of someone.
I sat close to him in the cafeteria which cause Sam to send daggers at him, not that I mind. He even plays badminton with me during games, the first time he had offered to play I was surprised because I didn't see him as a sport person and he had said it himself before. But he surprisedly played well and then he joined me to play every  games day, and I didn't miss the suspicious looks some of my classmates were giving us.
This hot Saturday afternoon I was lying on my bed, working on one of my homework. I was almost through with it when Rita barged into the room like she owned the place.

" don't break my door " I said pointing at the door.

" and don't talk to me like I am an elephant " she said jumping on the bed next to me.
" I might change my mind and go home "

" I see someone is not in a good mood " I hummmed

" and looks like someone is serious today "

" I am always serious fish "
I closed my books and put them in my bag. " what did you bring for me? I asked.

She hissed. " I'm angry sef, J-bee has vex me "

" really? What happened?

She frowned. " why would he put that Tina girl on his dp "

I laughed and covered my face with my hands " she's his friend Rita "

" and so? She complained.
" why must he use her as his dp"

" but he puts yours all the time"

" yes that's because I'm his girlfriend " she said and frowned. " she's not......., or maybe there's more to the story "

" stop been suspicious, J-bee would never cheat on you "

" oh my dear its hard to..............."
She was interrupted by the ringing of my phone.
I turn to pick and saw it was Steven calling.
" hello ' I said when I picked.

" hey dear how are you " he said from the other end.

" I'm fine and you "

" I'm owk too, how's your day going?

" cool, I am working on my homework. How about you "

" nice. Am home playing with my sisters "

" wow sounds like fun "

He laughed. " yes. They're the best "

" well big brother hope you're been nice to them "

" of course, wanna say hi?

I was little nervous as I waited till I heard a little voice " hello "

" hello how are you dear "

" I am fine "

" ok. My name is Sarah, what's your name?

" Bella "

" wow nice name " I said.
" I would like to see you one day, would you want that "

" yes. I would love that " She said excitedly.
I was beginning to wonder who Steven introduced me as to her.

" bye nice talking to you "

Then I heard her shouting to her twin ' Ella! Ella!  I just talked to Steven's girlfriend '

Her brother called and she kept quiet.
" uhmmm....well......that was good..........." Steven shuttered.

I laughed. " yea I like her already "

"OK I'll catch you later "

" ok bye " I said and hang up.

I turned to see Rita giving me a suspicious look.

" what? I asked

" all this smiles, tell me you've fallen for him already "

I shook my head. " noo. I'm just getting close to him to make Sam jealous remember "

" you mean you're using him "

" that's harsh "

" well that's what it is "  she frowned. " Have you ever thought about how he will feel when he finds out "

" he's a guy, he should know I'm just flirting "

" what if he doesn't see it that way "

" c'mon its Steven we're talking about. He's a Playboy "

" still I think you should reconsider "

" Rita it's just for a while "

" then what? Sam comes back and you guys get together again?

" and that's what I can't seem to understand. How sure are you he'll come back, after everything "

" Rita I thought you'll be on my side " I yelled and threw my hands up. " I wish I had never met him but what can I do. now I can't seem to have control over my heart, all I know is that I still have feelings for him "

"I am sorry if you feel that way but I am on your side. I just don't want you to get hurt "
