chapter twenty

Monday came quickly, the weekend was bored for me. I stayed home all day on Saturday and on Sunday I went to church where I met J-bee and the twins cos we attended the same church, it didn't help matters that they kept asking me about what happened at the party on Friday, why I was crying when they found me. J-bee even guessed that Sam hit me but I just laughed and told him I would have hit him back if he did that.
When they saw I wasn't going to tell them anything, they let me be. The truth was I didn't know what to say, the fact was if I hadn't slapped him I would have drew him closer and kiss him, slapping him was my escape. I had convinced my friends that I was over him but that was not true, because if it was, I would not have had goosebumps when he kissed me. I knew I still felt something for him. That's why I decided to talk to him today in school, I wanted to hear what he had to say.

I sat in the car thinking of how to approach him, it will have to be during break, maybe  I should meet him in the cafeteria. I thought.
When Hope dropped us off I walked straight to class hoping to find Rita but she was not in class yet, I dropped my bag in my locker and went out heading to the hall, we had assembly today.
When I got to the hall I met the twins, Steven, Jason, and J-bee standing outside the hall. I went to meet them and noticed they seem to be in a serious discussion.

"good morning guys " I said offering them a sweet smile.
They all answered and Micah offered me a hug, I hugged him back.

" how's your weekend " Jason asked me.

" it was ok " I replied " yours?

He nodded " it was fine "

" what were you guys discussing about " I asked.

" nothing " J-bee replied rather too quickly.

" oh " I said.

" hello everyone " Rita said as she came to join us.

" you look breathtaking " J-bee said hugging her. " I missed you bae "

" and no one gave me a hug this morning " Michael complained.

" exactly what I thought " Jason said.
" it seems I'll get myself a girlfriend soon "

" that will be the best option " Steven said smiling at him.

" I have a girlfriend but I am mostly lonely because my babe is a nerd who loves her books a lot more than she loves me. " Michael said.

I turned and looked at him surprised, was that the reason why he went after Wama? Did he think Annie was not giving him attention?
I just smiled at him resolving in my heart to talk to him about it later.

" talking of girls Jason I see you had a good time at the party on Friday " Rita said winking at him. " with that girl "

He looked at her and smiled shaking his head.
" I thought you said you were not into girls " I say.

" I said I don't date, it doesn't mean I don't talk or dance with them " he defended.

" it was more than talking " Rita insinuated.

" oh Ri-ri don't assume " he said smirking. " I was just trying to fit in "

" and you left with her " Rita pressed
" I saw you "

He laughed. " were you watching me?

" nope I just saw what I saw "

" she needed a ride " he said quietly.
