chapter sixteen

When it was time for break, I and Rita went to the cafeteria to eat something. She kept teasing me about the poem till we got there and I felt like ripping her head off. We went to our usual table and met the guys already seated.

" hello everyone " Rita said as we sat down and they all nodded in reply.
I sat down near Jason and Rita sat beside J-bee, he placed a soft kiss on her cheeks and she blushed.

" who's buying our food today? I asked.
We had a little tradition, one person pays for the whole meal each day and we take turns doing that.

" I will " Michael said and brought out a piece of paper, he wrote down his order and gave the paper to Jason who was next to him. " write down your order " he said.

Jason wrote the same thing as Michael and passed the paper to me, I wrote down mine and gave Rita to write too, and the paper went round and back to Michael.
He got up and went to get our food from the counter.

" Sarah I heard something interesting happened in class today " J-bee said smiling.

" oh shut up ' I said and frowned.

Rita started laughing and I glared at her.

" how did you know? Rita asked him.

" rumors travels fast " he answered.

" what happened ? Steven asked.

" Sarah's love poem was read out in class by the English teacher. It was found inside her assignment notebook " Jason explained.

" the idiot put it there " I hissed.

" and his name was written on it, so everyone knew it was meant for him. " Rita said laughing.

" the poem was amazing Sarah I didn't know you love him that much. " Jason said smiling.

I threw my hands in the air. " that poem was written ages ago, I gave it to him on his birthday last term. " I said

" how romantic ". Micah commented.

" would you write a poem for me too " J-bee said and gave me his Puppy look.

" please you guys just stop " I said putting my hands to my face.

" you have the poem right? Can I read it please...." Steven asked

" hell no. No way. " I said shaking my head.

Michael brought our food on a tray and placed it on the table. He went back and got the drinks. Everyone picked their food and started eating. I ordered chips and a bottle of coke, and Rita kept eating my chips. I then took half of her chicken pie and she glared at me but I just raised my eyebrows at her and smiled.

" Sarah I heard about your love poem for Sam " Michael said looking at me.

" oh gosh please " I begged
" it was nothing"

" then allow us read it " Steven said

" noo " I said firmly.

" don't worry I still remember the contents, I'll tell you later " Jason said to Steven.

" I've heard part of it already " Michael said

" yea me too " J-bee adds.
He turned and winked at me " I told you rumors travels fast."

I ignored them and ate my food quietly, they were chatting about what happened yesterday at the cafeteria. It seems a student had poured her food on another student, who she accused of deceiving her during the holidays and he came back acting like nothing happened between them. I knew some of the details but I didn't join their conversation I just ate my food.
