chapter fourty eight

Sarah's POV

The day of Steven's party we did a lot of persuading before Jibrin agreed to take us there.  We agreed they were to pick me up by  5: 30pm even though Steven told me it was starting by 5pm.
I told my uncle Hope I was going to Steven's party, I had told him all about Steven and I promised to introduce Steven to him soon. He was happy I had gotten over Sam and talking of Sam, I haven't seen or heard from him since the day I went to his house to settle things. I was glad he didn't make any effort to talk to me or protest against me been with Steven cos despite everything that happened between us I didn't want to have to quarrel or have a beef with him.
So far everything seems to be going fine and well and I hope it stays so, I did my make-up and made my mum choose an outfit for me, I wanted to look good. I was a little nervous because I knew I was going to meet some of Steven's friends, I was worried what they might think of me.
My mum kept giving me the suspicious eye seeing how excited I was, I kept telling her I was just going out to hang out with the twins and our friends from school. She just smiled and told me not to stay out late.
I hurried to Hope's room and asked him if I was ok.

" c'mon Sarah, you love perfect " he said smiling " don't be nervous "

" thanks so much " I said turning round and giving a little bow.

" mehn Steven has got to keep a close eye on you if not one of his friends might end up stealing you, cos with the way you look now..........hmmmmmm"

I laughed " I won't let that happen "
I turned to go but stopped. " Hope, what if I meet his friends from Concordia?

" just act cool and nice "

" ok " I nodded and went back to my room, I picked my purse and pause to look at myself in the mirror one more time, I smiled and walked out. I went to the sitting room and waited for Rita and Jibrin.

Just when I wanted to pull out my phone to call Rita I heard them horn for me, I sighed and came out from my house. The moment I closed the gate I started talking.
" Rita its almost 6pm, I tot we agreed on 5:30 "

" oh please....." She answered
" I was doing my make up and it took longer than expected " she rolled her eyes.

" oops I so want to tell you the make-up was worth it but sooo..rrie. I don't lie " I said and gave her a fake smile.

" whatever, I don't need you to compliment me "

" hello Sarah, I'm fine thanks for asking " Jibrin said smiling.

" Jibrin "  I said turning to face him.
" sorry. How are you today "

" just get in " he said

I got in and he took off,
" by the way Sarah you look amazing "

I smiled " thanks "
Rita turned and glared at me and I put out my tongue at her.

When we got in, the attendant directed us to were the party was at the other side of the mansion.
I was surprised by what I saw next.
What I thought I will see was not what I saw, there were a lot of people,

" I thought Steven said it was just a small party " Rita said beside me.

" yea I thought so too "

The party was close to the pool, the pool was amazing just like the ones you see in hotels and movies. It seems the party had started a while ago because almost everyone had drinks in red cups and many were already dancing. Some were swimming while others were playing games. I scanned around trying to locate Steven but I couldn't see him.

" Sarah, Rita! I heard someone call and turned to see Jason waving at us.
We made our way towards him, he was sitting on a long couch with two other guys I didn't recognize. He stood up and hugged us and motioned us to sit down, he introduced his friends.
He answered even before I asked. " Steven and the twins are inside, they will be here any minute and J-bee is with them too. "

" ok " I said

" let me get you drinks " he said and stood up.

He went to get the drinks with one of His friends and the other engaged us in a discussion, he asked us a lot about school and how Jason was in Excellence. He said he used go to Concordia too but he transferred when he got to senior class. When Jason got back with our drinks he took my hands and told me to come with him, he told Rita we will be back soon and promised to send J-bee out.  he led me towards the mansion, he paused before we got in and and turned to look at me.

" Sarah I wanted to tell you before you meet them, those guys you met at Sobi, our Concordia friends, they are here. "

I nodded without saying anything.

" hope you are ok with that, "

" I don't have a problem with that " I said

He nodded and opened the back door, we went in and went through different alleys and got into a room. It was a sitting room but not as big as Steven's, sitting around on the Sofa were the guys from Sobi. I was glad Jason was holding my hands and I was tagging close to him cos I was nervous. they stopped talking when we got in, a soft music was playing but it was like I could still hear my heart beating. I tried to calm myself and forget the eyes that were all on me, I turned to look at Jason.
" what is happening here? I whispered.

" c'mon guys stops staring, she will freeze "
He said moving forward drawing me with him.

They didn't say anything and then one of them bursted out laughing, and everyone joined.

Wale got up immediately and came to me " sorry dear, forgive us. We were just too perplexed by your beauty "
He took my hands and lead me to one of the sofa " come sit. Join us please "

I sat down without saying anything and noticed the table was already filled with drinks.

" where's Steven? Jason asked them.

" he's in the bathroom " one of them answered and Jason turned to look at me before going to the bathroom.
I tried to stay calm as possible, but decline the drink they gave me.

They introduce themselves again and continued chatting. Wale who was beside me engaged me in a conversation about school, I was surprised why he was curious about how Jason and Steven were in school, I remembered the guy outside asking me the same thing.
I answered as best as I could.

After a few minutes I saw Steven walked out from the bathroom, his shirt was all stained  and his feet were bare.
He came to where I was and bent down to give me a kiss on the cheek.
" hello babe "

I smiled  " you look terrible "

He laughed. " I know "

He turned to look at his friends, " I believe there's no need for an introduction "

" yes. Just the tradition " Alex said.

Steven looked at me and laughed. " I don't think so "

" what tradition? I asked.

" you have to give each one of us a kiss " Silver said grinning.

" oh Silver stop " Wale said and turn to me " there is no tradition "

I smiled. " thank God "

" come with me, I need to change " Steven told me, and I stood up and followed him.
On the way to his room I asked him why he was a mess in the first place and he wouldn't tell me, he just told me that one of his friends had a little problem and he was just helping.
I met the twins in his sitting room and was told J-bee went out to meet Rita.
" why are your friends inside when the party is outside? I asked him before he went into his bedroom.

" the real party hasn't started yet" he said and smiled.
