chapter thirty three

I told my friends I was going to meet the chemistry teacher during break so I won't go to the cafeteria with them. I had planned to talk to Sam and find out what he had to say, yesterday when I asked Steven he won't tell me anything so I wanted to hear his side of the story.
When Micah and Jason had left the class, I stood up slowly and went to sit near him, I paused for a while and then I started. " its not like I believe you or anything but I just want to know why you think Steven was expelled "

" I don't think. That's what happened, I have few friends there " he said turning to look at me

" why then?

" Sarah.....he started.
"I never meant to break up with you in the first place, I loved you and I never stopped. But I eff up."
He stopped and looked around then continued " telling you this is going to hurt you but I know you'll find out anyway so there's no reason to keep you in the dark.
I got involved with someone when we were dating, I wasn't a faithful boyfriend. But it was a mistake and it was just one time, but then her boyfriend found out. And he was not an easy person, one day I had two visitors, members from a crew I knew, they brought a message from her boyfriend Alex. I tried to deny it but they had proof, they threatened me and to be honest I was afraid. They said they'll hurt me and anyone I love, everyone has a weakness and you were mine. These guys were dangerous, so I did what I thought was right and I broke up with you. That party was an excuse, a way to breakup with you. I knew you were going to change your mind and come, but I needed it to be real so you would stay away from me. And all those stuffs with Vicky and the rest was just to make you believe I had moved on."

" what has this got to do with Steven? I asked surprised and confused

" everything " he stopped and look around, by now we were the only people in the class.   " they're part of this crew am talking about. Steven and Jason. when I saw them in this school I was shocked. Of all the schools they could transferred into they choose to come here and to be friends with you."

" what crew?

" their friends from Concordia, they hang out at club Sobi. Steven and Jason kind of run the crew " he said bitterly

" woo! I don't believe you " I said shaking my head

" I know they seem the nicest people but they are not, Steven got expelled and Jason left with him "

" why was he expelled?

" I don't really know but there was an incident, he was arrested...... for rape "

" what??

" his father covered everything up and kept it out of the papers, he was released and they hid everything. " he sniffed and continued " it was a pretty bad situation "

" why would he rape someone?

" her name is Diana, and now even when you ask her she'll tell you nothing. I didn't know what they did to silence her but she moved out of the city, she's away now. I don't know why they did it but I guess it was to get back at her or at someone...... Sarah he's getting close to you because I think he's trying to hurt you because of me "

" no no noooo this can't be true, this....this... crew, tell me about it " I shuttered

he brought out his phone and showed me a picture, a picture of Steven with the guys I had met at Sobi. " this is them, the one next to Jason is Alex, he's the one threatening me. This guy told me to my face he was going to hurt anyone I love "

I kept quiet, this guys were the same people Steven introduced as his friends at club Sobi.
" they are my cousins friends  " was all I could say.

" yes I know. They just used your cousins to get to you " he insinuated

" I'll find out if what you're saying is true " I said quietly

" do you think they'll answer you if you ask them?

" well just because you have a beef with their friend Alex doesn't mean they're in on it " I reasoned

" then why would they lie about been expelled?

I kept quiet, I couldn't believe this. If what Sam is saying is true, then all this feelings Steven is showing towards me is a lie. It can't be
But what if it's true, I had to find out.

" why would he do all this " I said quietly

" because that's what they do, I've seen them hurt people. That gang have done a lot of bad stuffs. Really bad stuffs, illegal stuffs"

I was silent I didn't know what to think,
When Steven took me to club Sobi I remembered how they were all staring at me. And then I thought it was strange they didn't ask me anything about myself, I guess its because they already know who I was.
