Sarah's POV

I tried to keep Sam and Steven's issue out of my mind for my first few classes but when it was time for break I knew I had to face them again. In the cafeteria I ate little and didn't say much, I tried to act normal but I couldn't do that. It didn't help matters that I could see Sam from where I was sitting and every time our eyes met it was like he was reminding me of the monsters that were sharing the table with us.
I was like a scared cat, between the devil and the deep blue sea. Sam I saw as a devil but what of Steven, that was like the beautiful blue sea but where dangers lie deep within. Would I believe the devil or would I rather go with Steven and sink down the sea, for what I know it might be a big trap for me.

" Sarah you seem quiet today " Rita said observing me.

" yea you seem troubled " Jason adds giving me a hard stare like he was trying to read me.

" just thinking " I said

" of what? Michael asked " or maybe who?

" a lot of things " I answered taking a bite of my pie.

" like? Jason asked

" everyone has a secret you know "

" yes. Stuffs they'll like to keep hidden "
He laughed and took a sip of his Pepsi " so what's your secret Sarah?

" I didn't say the secret was mine "
I said looking down.

" who's then?

" never mind "

Steven raised his eyes and looked at me, it seems he wanted to say something but he didn't. I wanted to ask him to tell me the truth about everything but then I thought even if it's true he would lie about it and find another way to get back at Sam, and I feared what they might do to him. Sam said they were dangerous and if they intend to use me to get back at him then that means they're capable of doing anything to make him pay. Then it means Steven never cared for me and that was my greatest fear, that he doesn't have feelings for me.
I decided I won't ask him, I'll just find out the truth myself and if Sam is lying to me I'll make him pay for messing with my head.

****
I sat getting nervous about what I was about to find out, I was hoping it would proof Steven was innocent of all Sam had accused him of. I wished I had talked to Rita about it but I knew she disliked Sam, so she'll never believe a word from his mouth but what if he was right.
I did a little digging and found a friend who knew a student from Concordia, she too like Steven and Jason just transferred into another school here and I got my friend to share her to my social media account. I wanted to find out more about Steven from her, I wanted to know if he was indeed expelled from Concordia.
I took another sip from my drink and scroll down to check again if she was online, to make sure I don't miss her. I wondered if she was going to tell me anything at all.
I waited for over half an hour then I decided it was better to call her. I picked her number from her account and dailed, I was relieved when the call went through.

" hello " she said when she picked. Her voice like that of a child.

" hi. My name is Sarah " I said trying to sound polite.

" Oh you're Femi's friend right "
Was her swift reply.

" yes. How are you doing "

" good. How about you?

" am pretty cool too "

" I'm Veronica by the way, but pls don't call me Vero. I prefer Vee " she said giggling.

" gotcha! Vee. " I said smiling.

" good, so why did you call?

" well Vee I believe my friend Femi told you I wanted to ask you a few things about some people in your former school " I said
