"Way to go babe!" Jess gave me a slamming high five. "That comeback was epic. I am pretty sure you are the talk of the school now"
"I feel bad though, I'll apologize when we meet up for rehearsal" I stupidly said.
"Try that and I will never speak to you again." She half screamed. Okay there was no way in this life that I would apologize for that. Nahh.
"Grab chills, I was joking." Deep down I knew I wasn't. But currently, there was no way I'll do it again.
"By the way, Tyler was the one that gave Chase my number. Don't ask me how though. And I am getting a ride from him today. Hope your not mad that I didn't tell you earlier"
"Why would I be? Just be sure to inform me immediately you guys start going out." She gave me her signature smirk
"Why would you even think that I would go out with someone I haven't had a full fifty word conversation with? That's a really awkward way of thinking." I scrunched my face in confusion.
She threw her hair back and laughed really hard.
"What's funny?" My confusion increased.
"The look on your face was priceless! And yes, that is really an awkward way of thinking." She smirked again.
"Ha Ha. Very funny." I laughed humorlessly.
"Yeah yeah whatever."
Don't ask me how I landed myself with this sort of best friend. Sometimes, I even wondered how this awkward and exciting relationship began.
*~*~*
"Could you change the station, this song is awful." Tyler pleaded for the hundredth time.
"No way! Its so soul touching" I countered again for the hundredth time.
So, I was currently in Tyler's car and we were on our way to Chase's house. Speaking of which, I hadn't seen Chase since our cafeteria incident. As Tyler reached for the button to change the station, it so happened that I reached for it too and our hands brushed slightly.
Why I reached for it. I would never know. Luckily for me, I didn't blush like those girls in those cheesy Chic flicks. How juvenile would that be?He quickly withdrew his hands, an action I did too.
"Sorry about that" he said. His voice was full of sincere apology. I couldn't help but laugh. I mean what was he apologizing for? Its not like he gave me the worlds hardest slap.
Boys. Ha! You will never understand them.
"Why are you laughing?" He asked, looking annoyed, scratch that, I am guessing he was annoyed.
"Your apologizing for no reason. That's why. That's so weird and funny." I managed to say in between laughs.
"You're so stuck up. Its annoying and immature. Plus I don't see what is so funny about the situation that you're really laughing." He quickly dished out.
Woah Woah Woah. How did things take a bad turn so fast. So Tyler is this sensitive? Wow, who knew? My smile quickly vanished.
"Sorry Mr sensitive." I said rolling my eyes.
He didn't look at me or say anything to me through out the ride. His loss, my favourite song was still playing. So there.
An awkwardly silent car ride later, we arrived at a huge mansion.
Woah! I mean you need to type in the security pin before the gate opens. In times like this, I wish I had a house this big. Then again, at least I had a roof over my head. And I considered my home pretty big for my family of four. Seeing a house twice the size is just too thrilling. Maybe Chase has eleven brothers and ten sisters and they need their space. Its understandable.
