“Hi. Misssed me?” The human on my swivel chair smiled at me.
Taking deep breathes to ensure that I stayed conscious, I just looked at her through the black locks that covered my face.
“How did you get in?”I muttered but I was loud enough, so she could hear me.
“I hardly see how that is of any importance right now.” she replied, looking at her perfectly manicured nails.
“What do you want?” I blew breeze from my mouth to remove the hair that covered my face but it fell right back. I would have tied it up myself but you know, my hands were tied. No pun intended, at all. Choosing to ignore me, she gestured to Shane and told him to come closer.
“I don’t like the way she is slouching, Shane do something about it.” She ordered and the senseless male did do something about it. He shoved me to the floor and made my back lean on the bed and made my legs straight in front of me.
“Because of the years of our friendship and the love I still have for you, I’ll allow you to leave right now and I won’t scream, I won’t even mention this to the police. You can go. This is your last chance to go scot-free.” I bargained.
She let out a low dry laugh. It was so dry and dark, it made me shiver.
“You look adorable. Look at you, negotiating with us as if we’re criminals about to harm you.”
I rolled my eyes at that. She dragged herself closer to me and brought out a small knife. It looked really sharp. I mean, you wouldn't even apply pressure to someone’s neck with that knife, but they’ll probably die.
“I had a feeling you’d say something like that. You’re lucky you didn’t scream at first, this would have been in between your neck by now.”
“Jesus! Jessica.” I muttered under my breath and looked away from her.
Using the tip of the blade, she lifted my chin, causing me to stare into her dark, cold, blue eyes. Her signature smirk was on her face. She was enjoying this. Heaven knows that if I got out of this alive, I was going straight to the cops and I was pressing charges.
“As I said earlier, what do you want?”
“Shane and I decided to come pay you a visit, you know, to see how things are going. Poor Tyler, who knew he’d take a bullet for you? Funny thing is, I didn’t even know he liked you. Did you know? Like, if you knew and you didn’t tell me, that would be terrible. I'm your best friend.” She sweetly smiled and removed the blade from under my chin.
I turned to look at Shane. He sat on the edge of my bed and played with his hands. Yeah, you better be nervous about all this, you’re going to jail, I promise you!
“God forbid that I’ll ever be friends with a crazy monster like you.” I hit every syllable to ensure the words penetrated her brain.
Closing her eyes and sucking in a deep breath, she came closer.
“I’d be careful what I said around someone like me. I’m with the knife remember? I don’t need to remind you about what I can do. Just one plunge like that...” She brought the knife to my chest with the speed of light. However she was careful enough to let it stop at the smiling sponge bob face of my nightwear. “…and you’re dead.”
My heart was beating ten million times faster than usual. What was wrong with her? What did she want?
“Yeah, I love seeing that fear. It makes me feel like I have control. You know, over you. I’m super happy that I get to see you. I kinda miss you though. We should have coffee tomorrow. You didn’t tell me about all the hot boys you met at that conference.”
