Brittney finally ended her useless questions on what shade of lipstick matched better and stalked into her room. Just then, Rita checked her watch and ran out of the room, barefoot. Sometimes, I wonder what actually goes on in her small head. How can someone go to an international conference barefoot? It was beyond me.
I searched everywhere for my tie. Every single place. I couldn't just find it. It was getting annoying. I wanted to wear this particular tie today. I had the complete outfit planned days ago. This missing tie will not ruin my plans.
Brittney came out of the room again and I crossed my fingers hoping that she would not ask us another stupid question.
"Are you guys aware that its just eight o'clock? The conference starts by twelve. I hope you know." She enlightened us.
I checked my watch, one minute after eight. Just great. I gave up the tie search and landed on the sofa. I yelped in pain and got up immediately.
Lo and behold, my tie and Rita's stilettos were on the couch. I can't believe that they had been there this whole time and I ran round this suite like a raving lunatic searching for this same tie that was staring at me.
Life.
My phone beeped and I pulled it out from my pocket. It was a text from Tyler. We all knew he liked some girl but he never told us who she was. He sent me a text saying that he was going to ask her to go on a date with him today and I replied him with a simple 'Go for it, I got you😃.'
I left the messaging app and set a reminder for eleven thirty. I opened the car racing game app on my phone and started playing. After what seemed like forever, I got bored and decided to go have breakfast downstairs. I was supposed to meet my cousin Jason today. We agreed to meet at a cafe thirty minutes to the conference time and we planned to walk to the conference together.
He was my ultimate best friend aside from Tyler and Jayden. We had not seen in three years and we only communicated via video calls and phone calls. I was really excited to see him today.
I picked up Rita's shoes and put them in a small bag and then I left the room and went into the closest elevator. A very pretty girl was already inside. She was blonde and blue eyed. I flashed her my million dollar smile and she politely smiled back. I noticed that her clear blue eyes were not as captivating as Rita's deep brown ones, she wasn't as pretty as Rita.
Okay, this has been happening a lot lately. I wonder why every single thing made me want to think about Rita. It was really unusual for me. When I ate, I thought about how Rita would beam whenever she saw food. When I drank water, I thought about how she would carelessly spill water on her clothes whenever she tried to drink from a bottle. When I was about to sleep, I even thought about how she opened her mouth and snored softly. It was... It was unlike me. What was she doing to me?
The soft ding of the elevator snapped me out of my thoughts and I walked out, heading straight for the breakfast café. I quickly spotted Jason and a dark haired girl sitting together one a three person table. From the looks on his face, i could tell that they were having a serious conversion.
As I approached them, I recognized the girls voice. Of course it had to be Rita. Trust her to magically show up few seconds after my entire brain finished thinking about her.
"Well, I can see that this will be the start of a beautiful and blossoming friendship. What say you?" I heard Jason say in a horrible attempt to mimic a Brit. They both laughed, to the sadness of my face.
