"This is not what it looks like. At all." I said, running down the stairs. "There is an actual explanation for this ma."
Chase came running behind me. "This is exactly what it looks like. Rita is all grown up with a couple of guys interested in her. Jayden for instance." He said gesturing to a flustered Jayden by the front door.
I sent him a silent glare which he met with an unrepentant smirk. Key word being unrepentant.
"So, why was I not aware about this date before now?" My mother asked, still clearly annoyed.
"It was not intentional, I promise. If I wanted to keep it away from your knowledge I wouldn't have given him my address at all. Please try and understand. And please don't make me cancel on him." I begged her giving her my best puppy eyes.
"Hmmm. Okay. But your father must hear of this."
Great! Not how I expected it to go. At all.
"I'm really sorry Mom but please don't send him back now."
She took in a deep breath and released it then she made up her mind.
"Fine by me. But since you're leaving on your curfew, you should be back by nine pm."
I squealed and ran into her arms. "Thank you so much ma. Bye Chase!"
With that I pulled Jayden out of the house."I didn't expect that, at all." He said, holding my hand as we started walking down a few blocks. My eyes were still searching for a car.
"What did you then expect mister?" I asked poking his cheek.
"Probably tons of questions. I even made a list of answers just in case." He explained while unfolding the sheet of paper he brought out from his pocket.
I looked at it and I saw stuff like; I don't drink, the date will be a surprise, I am not interested in your daughter, I just want to know her, I have a car, she will be home on time. And other related stuff.
"So your not interested in me?" I asked feigning sadness.
"Of course I am. That part was to calm your parents minds so they'll consider this as a friendly date." He slung an arm over my shoulder. I looked at him and smiled.
"You do know that it is a friendly date because I am not very interested in you." I gave him a small smile.
He withdrew his arms and cleared his throat. "Oh okay. Whatever you say." He nodded.
"Speaking of the date, where are we going?" I asked him looking up to meet his eyes.
"That my dear friend is a surprise." He replied with his signature smirk.
"Okay. I'll just wait it out then."
"You're no fun. You should be bugging me for the place by now. Hmmph." He scoffed, folded his arms and put his nose high in the air. I laughed because he was so adorable. This is the difference. With Chase, I'd be pink all over. I won't even hold his hand talk less look him in the eye but Jayden is just someone I can roll with. Definitely friend material.
"Okay Mister, please oh please tell me where our date will be. Oh please I cannot lift another foot without the hope of actually knowing where I am going. Save me from this misery!" I cried in a British accent.
He was laughing extremely hard now. "That right there is proper pleading. Okay I have made up my mind. I won't still tell you."
"Oh come on! Wait where is the car?" I asked realizing we had walked down a couple of blocks now.
