"I don't understand. What are you trying to say? Please explain." I looked at him with wide eyes. He was still smiling and looking at his menu but I didn't think he was reading any thing on it.
He folded the menu, placed it on the table and met my pleading eyes.
"Now where do I start?" He smiled and his smile quickly faded to a straight line once he saw the look on my face.
He cleared his throat."Okay, so, the fraternal River twins got separated because of their parents divorce. You wouldn't know that because their parents were already divorced while they still lived in St Landia."
A waitress came to take our orders.
"Hello, what would you like to have this morning?" She beamed.
"I'll have a croissant and a frappuccino." I smiled up at her.
She wrote it down in her little notepad and turned to look at Chase.
"I'll take the same thing." Chase nodded towards me.
"Go on." I urged after she had left.
"Now, the River twins still kept in touch regardless but they were in different social circles. While you were nine and paraded around with Jess on your arms in middle school as your bff, Emily was already working her way to popularity."
That explained how I never knew they were even related.
"When Jess moved away and was a sophomore, she joined this stupid gang with an even crazier name. Um.. What was it called again?.." He tapped his chin and furrowed his eyebrows.
"Them. The name is them." I quickly offered.
"Yeah thanks. Them."
The waitress brought our order and we thanked her and gave her a ten dollar tip immediately. She was just too sweet.
"Then Jessica was made to believe you stole her twins crush which you totally knew about and then he dumped you in public but Emily made Jessica promise to make you to continually pay for your 'sins'. Jessica threw your friendship away just like that and already started planning for you."
"Even when she got the guy?" I queried.
"Yup. As I was saying, once you moved back, she was really excited to begin. She called in the big guns; the Baxter siblings. And for the record, Delphine is her current best friend you are just well, you." He shrugged and took a long sip of his frappuccino. Italian coffee was the last thing on my mind now.
"Changing the Baxter's names and school wasn't hard. Jess's mum is still a multi billionaire and she'd do anything for Jess not to go back to her dad. So that's where the funding for everything basically comes from."
"So you mean I suffered humiliation based on my fake bff's sworn goal to get revenge on me for 'humiliating' her twin?" I rubbed my temples. "It just get worst. Wait how did you even know about this?"
"I have my ways." He smiled.
"Dwayne, I will call your mother and tell her about all the girls her perfect pure son has slept with this instant if you do not start talking."
I smiled victoriously when his eyes widened in fear.
"I'll talk. Jayden gets the info. We had to beg him to go and beg Jessica to not allow our misunderstanding to come between them. So they continued their relationships while he hacked into her system, monitored her calls, emails and texts. I mean having a computer freak as a best friend has its perks. You should try it some time."
Then he paused, as if in thought.
"No don't try it at all. Just be my best friend and I could connect you to the right people." He smiled and looked at me in the eye.
