-Chapter Three Hundred and Twenty-One-
"Oh? Does it?" Luffy asked as he started to mindlessly pick at his nose. "I don't take very many baths."
"Ah-ha! Because heat rises and there's not much sunlight, so there's nothing to heat the water down here" Usopp realized.
"The temperature's not the only thing different at the bottom" Brook whimpered.
"You're not still depressed, are you?!" Usopp snapped.
"Brook, it was just one joke" I chuckled, snuggling closer to Zoro who grunted in return.
"Once we move down, we'll find something called Deep Currents—you don't run into them terribly often, but they're much larger than the regular currents" Brook explained as he suddenly held up a diagram. "Also, they're quite unique in that their flow is completely independent from what you see closer to the surface."
"Currents under the currents—and you even have a diagram? Huh?" Usopp hummed, looking rather impressed as he examined the diagram before him. "You sure do know a lot of stuff."
"That's because I'm so old!" Brook laughed, somehow blushing at the compliment.
"I guess that makes you the wisest out of all of us, huh?" I smiled, watching as that blush of his only grew as he became a bit bashful.
"Not only that, but all currents are connected to each other" Franky added onto Brook's explanation. "But that doesn't mean they have to flow in the same direction," he told us, "they flow east, west, up and down—it's like a big long dragon all tangled up."
"The Deep Currents tend to travel at a surprisingly slow pace, after they reach the Deep Sea, it takes approximately two thousand years before they finally make their way up to the surface of the water" Brook continued. "That makes me feel young again, actually."
"Two thousand?!" Luffy, Usopp, and Chopper gaped.
"That is slow" I whistled, finally letting go of Zoro and getting myself a coat—one that was similar to both Nami and Robin's, but was black instead of pink or white.
"Yes, two thousand—and because of that, there are countless tales about what lurks within those deep dark currents" Brook nodded, voice deep as if to make what he was saying sound menacing and terrifying. "Monsters, curses, the wrath of the undead."
"Sounds neat" I chuckled as Chopper started to scream.
"You mean the Deep Sea is haunted?!" he fearfully cried.
"What?! The sea's haunted—help!" Brook shouted.
"Wait, weren't you the one that just said that it was haunted?" I chuckled, raising an amused eyebrow.
"That sounds fun to me!" Luffy eagerly laughed.
"Calm down, guys" Nami softly huffed as Luffy cheerfully ran around which brought a smile to my face. "I don't know about the wrath of the undead or whatever you're freaking out about, but I do know we'll encounter a downward flowing current soon" she told us. "Once we do, we should be able to ride it down into the Deep Sea."
"Deep Sea..." Luffy mumbled.
"Surface..." Zoro hummed.
"Most downward..." Usopp nodded.
"Flow..." Chopper smiled as Brook made a sound similar to what a guitar would sound like being strummed.
"None of you understood a single thing she said, did you?" I sweat dropped.
"She said something about Deep Sea currents, I don't know" the men admitted with a smile as they poured themselves a cup of tea, causing my sweat drop to get bigger.
