21 - Falling Harder

When Benny woke up, he saw Nina asleep in his arms, he was glad she had finally gotten some rest. She needed it. He looked over his shoulder to see his alarm clock, 4:03pm, they'd been asleep for 3 hours. He turned back to Nina and smiled, he had no need to wake her, they had nowhere to be. He was satisfied just watching her rest.

The sudden movement startled her awake. Despite being in a deep, restful sleep, she was still semi-alert. With her eyes still closed, she muttered, "Benny, please go back to sleep."

"If I sleep now then I won't sleep tonight" Benny replied.

She positioned her head so that she was looking into his eyes. "Too bad," she retorted, "Don't sleep tonight. You're going to sleep with me."

Benny gave her a little smirk, and twisted his body to pull Nina on top of him. "God, I love you so much." He was unsure whether to kiss her again, she hadn't been particularly romantic today after everything that happened. He made a split-second decision and went for it. He held her neck with one hand and pulled her in while lifting his own head up, he closed his eyes and kissed her, only hoping that she'd kiss back.

Just before he could get his lips on hers, she whispered, "Te amo." With only a split-second's hesitation, she kissed him back. She knew that if she made him guilty, she'd feel sick to her stomach for the rest of the week.

Benny heart jumped, he'd been hoping and waiting to hear that all day. He was finally sure Nina felt the same way as him. He no longer felt guilty for all the times he'd said, 'I love you' or where he kissed her and she didn't return it. He had Nina now and the past was behind them. This was all he needed.

As she kissed back, Benny felt shivers down his spine, his heart was beating faster than ever. The kiss became more passionate, but at the same time so much more affectionate and romantic.

Nina didn't kiss back as much as Benny did, but definitely gave it her shot. She was still partially exhausted. Despite not wanting to be the first to pull back, Benny didn't show any signs of stopping, so she did. She didn't want it to get too out of hand. It was only four o'clock, after all, and they had all evening to do whatever they wanted.

Benny instantly felt bad, "I'm sorry baby."

Quickly, she felt bad for making him feel guilty. "No! No, no, no! You didn't do anything wrong!" He didn't know how tired she was.

He held onto her tightly, he never wanted to let go. "Just let me know if I ever go too far, sweetheart, okay"

"Okay," she whispered, practically breathless.

"Let me cuddle the life out you, you monkey"

Her nose crinkled as she looked at him with a confused expression.

"Come on, you are my monkey, my cheeky monkey." he squeezed her tight and wiggled.

Nina looked at Benny with a fake violated expression. She crinkled her nose even more.

"God you're so cute sometimes." He said kissing her crinkled nose.

"What! Only sometimes." Nina said sounding offended.

"No, all the time, but that was particularly cute. Anyway, are we going to get up?"

"Sure." Nina tried her hardest to cover up how tired she was.

Benny pulled them up and out of the bed, still holding onto Nina, he spun her around, before eventually putting her down.

As he spun her, she giggled, but was dizzy when he put her down.

"Well at least I've got a laugh out of you today" Benny said while giggling himself.

"Mmhm!" she said, with an overly sprightly tone.

"What do you actually want to do, I told Usnavi I'd meet him and hang out when I was at the bodega this morning. But is there anything you want to do?"

"Well, I was actually hoping I could go back and hang out with Bianca, as there is a slight chance I may not see her again."

"That's perfect then, you give her a call and I'll call Usnavi, then maybe we can hit the club tonight."

"Sure."

Benny and Nina finally let go of each other and called their relative friends.

"Yo Usnavi, what's up?"

"Yo Benny, what's up?" Usnavi said.

"Not much, Nina's off to hang out with her college roommate who's in town currently. I was wondering if I could come down and chill at the bodega, I'm bored! Then maybe hit the club tonight. If you're up to it."

"For sure! Meet me at the bodega in ten!"

"Fab, see you in a bit!"

"Alright, see you!"

Nina texted Bianca:

'Hey Bianca, I'm sorry about earlier, I wasn't in the right state of mind, and I'm still not much better but I want to spend some time with you. I am most likely returning to Stanford at some point as that's why my dad sold his flipping business causing Benny to lose his job. But it's not 100% yet. So, it would be nice to spend some time together just in case I don't come back. Bennett Park in 10? Nina xo'

'Sure thing girl, I'm here to talk. And is that the place we were at earlier? B'

'Thanks, and yeah. See you in a bit.'

'Alright, see you!'

Nina walked Bennett Park, heavy on her heels.
