Vanessa was trying to walk to the hospital.

Usnavi pulled over when he finally found Vanessa, only a few miles from the barrio. He glared at her through the windshield as he pulled up next to her, rolling down his window. "Get in," he demanded.

She glared back and crossed her arms. "Why?"

"Because I was worried about you, Vanessa! What if you got ran over? There were a million things that could have happened to you! You're too prideful sometimes!" Usnavi exclaimed, being a bit hot-headed.

After a long pause, her thoughts clicked and she snapped, "How do you know about that?"

More gently, Usnavi said, "Vanessa, please just get in the car. Do you want to see Benny before the day is out."

She nodded slowly and got in silently.

"Thank you," he breathed. Usnavi put the car in gear again and drove off toward the hospital.

She didn't talk, she fiddled with her hands and looked at her lap.

"I'm sorry, Vanessa," he said, while still watching the road. "I wish I hadn't snapped at you over the phone. I was just really worried about you. The whole time I was making my way back here I was thinking up different horrible things that could happen."

"...Sorry." She mumbled quietly.

"It's not your fault. It's just your nature," Usnavi said.

She sighed softly. "I'm still sorry"

"For what? You're not to blame."

She shrugged and wiped her eyes.

Usnavi sighed, putting a hand on the top of her left hand. He waited to see if she would shove it away.

She left it there and leaned back.

Usnavi was relieved that she decided to leave it there. He decided to try to calm her down by rubbing her thigh with the pad of his thumb.

She let him and stayed put.

"I'm so sorry," he murmured.

"It's fine." She said softly.

He felt horrible, but continued driving because he didn't want to press the topic any further. When they finally got to the hospital, he let out a brief sigh of relief.

She had fallen asleep on the way there and was now leaning against the seatbelt.

Usnavi looked over at her and smiled. She was so cute when she was sleeping. He didn't know which he preferred, sleeping or awake Vanessa. They were both perfect. He also didn't know whether or not to wake her. Usnavi knew that she wasn't too happy when woken, but she seemed so set on seeing Benny and Nina.

She stirred slightly and whimpered while she opened her eyes.

"Sorry, 'Nessa, did I wake you?"

"No... Are we here?"

"Yeah. Do you want to go in?"

She nods but then looks at him pathetically. "Will you carry me?"

"Ugh, fine. You know that I can't resist that face." He got out of the car and went to the passenger's side, picking her up when he got to her door. He carried her to Benny's hospital room.

She laid her head on his shoulder.

Usnavi smiled. He quietly asked, "Do I have to carry you to a seat or can you walk from the door to a seat?"

She snuggled into him. "Carry me please"

"Ugh, fine," Usnavi said, "You're lucky I love you. If I didn't you'd be helpless."

She kisses his cheek. "My legs hurt."

They walked up to the room Benny was in, Vanessa on Usnavi's hips.
