They headed towards the Rosario's. Benny looked at Nina nervously while taking sips of his water. He was honestly terrified. He knew they had to act like they were just friends when around them. When they arrived at the door, Benny pulled their hands up. "I love you Nina, we can do this, I know we can." He kissed her knuckles, then lowered them down. He reluctantly let go of her hand and looked at her in the eyes and nodded.
She breathed deeply. After a few breaths, they reached her front door. Once she had a bit more to gather herself, she opened her door and called, "Dad? Mom?"
They both walked in nervous, they headed towards the living room, Kevin and Camila were both sat there talking about who knows what. But when they saw Nina and Benny they both reacted very differently.
"Nina, mija!" Camilla called jumping up to hug her daughter. She's barely seen her since she came home. The first night she'd been at Abuela's, the next 3 were with Usnavi and then she was at Benny's last night. During the day she'd been either at the hospital with Benny or at the bodega.
"Hey mom," she said while hugging her. "Sorry that I didn't stop by much. It's been a bit busy."
"Good afternoon Mrs Rosario, Good afternoon Sir." Benny said keeping it formal.
"Benny, it's good to see you."
"You too, Mrs Rosario."
"Please, call me Camilla" Before Benny had a chance to respond Kevin came into the conversation.
"Where the hell have you been the last 6 days Nina, you haven't been home since you flew in. Where the hell have you been staying and what have you been doing all day!" Kevin stormed. "And what the hell is he doing in my house." He pointed at Benny giving him a glare.
Nina shuddered, nearly in tears. She almost wanted to say, 'Don't hurt me,' but stayed silent, as that would most likely be a bad decision.
Camilla went next to her husband. "Kevin, please, calm down."
"No Cami, our daughter's been home 6 days and I've seen her twice for about 10 minutes each in that whole time." He yelled in her face. He turned to Benny "and you should know better than to 'hang around' my daughter. Do you know what she's been doing the last 6 days and where she's been staying?"
"Dad, please," Nina pleaded. "Stop."
Camilla was immediately shut up. Like her daughter, she was immensely timid when yelled at.
Benny looked at the ground, this was why he was dreading it. "I've been with Nina every day." Benny said calmly.
"You what!" Kevin screamed, grabbing onto Benny's shirt by the collar shaking him menacingly. Shouting at him, Benny couldn't hear what he was saying and when he tried to speak again, Nina interrupted him.
"Dad! Stop!" she screamed hysterically. "Don't hurt him!" Nina pulled Benny away from her father, standing in between them. Despite being a head and a half shorter than him, at least, she felt like a sufficient shield.
Camilla stood back in shock. Never, in their years of being married had he lashed out so angrily, and physically.
Benny went to put his hand on Nina's shoulder, the second his skin touched her shirt, Kevin blew. "GET YOUR HANDS OFF MY DAUGHTER!" Benny went to pull his hand away, but Nina held it in place.
"Sir, I know now is not the best time, but we have something you need to know. Firstly, I've been with Nina each day, comforting her after everything that happened at college, and after what happened today." He wasn't even going to dare to mention the club and being in hospital. He looked at Camila, then at Kevin, then finally looked down at Nina in front of him.
