55 - Falling Message

"That was close," Benny said stroking Nina's blank cast.

"Mmhm," she said.

Benny looked up, "Usnavi, do you have a marker I could borrow?"

"Uh," he thought for a minute, "Yeah, there should be one in one of the drawers behind the counter. Don't want to wake her up."

"Shall we?" He took Nina's hand waiting for her to jump off his lap, he already had the perfect message planed out to write on her cast.

"Alright," she said quietly, sliding off his lap and then walking behind the counter. She laid her cast on the counter and waited.

Benny found the marker and pulled the cap off. "Close your eyes sweetie".

She closed her eyes, saying, "Mmhm."

Benny started writing:

'Dear Nina, Thank you for everything you've ever done for me, from when we little, right up until now. I love you to the moon and back and I hope to make every day better than the last. Just remember, I am always here, here to talk, here to cuddle, here for you. I love you so much. Benny xoxo <3'.

Benny had to write it really small in order to fit it all on. He just about managed and left some space for others to add their names if they wanted to. Once he was done he put the cap back on the pen.

"Okay, open your eyes baby."

She opened her eyes, blinking a few times, then read the scrawl on her cast. As she read deeper and deeper into the words, tears splashed down onto the fiberglass of her cast. Her smile reached her eyes by the time she finished. After staring at it for a few moments, she attacked him with a hug, crying tears of joy.

Benny hugged her back. "I'm so glad you love it baby girl, I love you so much and I never what you to forget." He kissed her forehead as tears of happiness started streaming down his cheeks as well.

The tears subsided after a bit. "Thank you," she mumbled into his chest. "Thank you so much."

"Anything for you mi amor."

"Aw, how cute!" Usnavi remarked.

Nina's head snapped around, glaring at him. He put up the only hand he could without waking up Vanessa. Nina rolled her eyes at him and said, "'Snavi," and paused. "Shut the heck up."

Benny chuckled as he looked at Usnavi, "Yeah, don't ruin the moment man."

Vanessa, who had woken up slightly giggled softly and mumbled. "Yeah 'Snavi... Shut up."

"Eh, whatever. Moment's already ruined." Usnavi retorted.

Nina walked over to a cooler and got a bottle of water, taking little sips of it.

"Look what happened Usnavi, I was gunna kiss my girl and now I can't! Thanks a lot." He glared at him playfully.

"Yes, you can," she giggled. Nina put down the water bottle and lifted her hand around his neck and pulled him in and kissed him a couple of times, then pulled away.

Benny held her close, falling into the kisses, each one becoming more intimate. When they stopped he whispered in her ear, "Gosh, it's so much better when it's you kissing me first. I love it." He kissed her one last time and pulled her back around the counter to the chair. He grabbed her water knowing that she couldn't with him holding one hand and her other in a cast. He sat down and pulled her back on his lap, resting his chin on her shoulder.

Nina picked up her bottle of water again, taking short sips. Since she didn't know what else to say, she just sat there in silence, using her water bottle as a crutch.
