Benny jumped up following her, all is thoughts forgotten, he still felt worthless, but Nina was worth everything to him. He ran, it suddenly all clicked that his feelings to Nina, how she was worth so much, would be exactly how she felt towards him. To her he was worth everything. Thankfully Benny was faster than Nina, he grabbed her arm and pulled her to him. "I'm so, so sorry Nina, what I said was terrible, I can't believe I said that to you. I can't believe I made you look for the negatives in me and that must have been horrible. I'm so sorry Nina, please forgive me."
Nina looked down at her arm. She pried Benny's hand off and looked into his eyes vulnerably. She was still lost of words.
Benny stepped back "You don't have to talk to me. I understand, what I said was truly horrible. I'm so sorry Nina." He turned his back and started walking back towards the tree.
"Wait," she exclaimed. "Please don't leave." Nina ran toward him, took his hand, turning him around and wrapped her arms around his torso, burying her head in his chest.
Benny shivered as her arms fell around his body. He looked down and then back up at her. "I'm sorry Nina, what I said was truly horrible. I shouldn't have put you in that situation. I'm sorry baby." He wrapped his arms around her neck and shoulders. "I love you Nina. More than anything. I'm sorry I hurt you, but I really love you and I never want to lose you." He looked down into her eyes, they were still sparkling, after everything, her eyes continued to shine. He couldn't resist, he leant towards her and pulled her into a string of passionate kisses.
"It's okay, Benny. Don't beat yourself up over it." She kissed him back.
Benny continued to kiss her passionately. He held one hand in place and move the other down to her waist again.
Nina took the lead, giving him more passionate kisses. She knew it was what he needed, and for once, she was completely prepared to deliver.
Benny closed his eyes feeling Nina lead. He relaxed, enjoying the kisses Nina gave him.
Nina gradually slowed down the kisses to soft, meaningful ones, then pulled back, looking deeply into his eyes. Her eyes sparkled, as did his. "Benny, you're a smart, kind, and freaking amazing young man. No matter what my father says, you're worth the world and more. And I love you so freaking much, words just can't describe."
Tears started flowing from Benny's eyes. He attacked her in a hug, lifting her up and spinning her for a moment. When he put her down, her mouth opened to speak. Benny suddenly raised his finger holding it to her lips. "No, don't even say it. I know what you're going to say. I know I shouldn't have lifted you and spin you around, but I just had to. It felt right for the moment." He then pulled his finger away and replaced it with his lips for a few moments.
She kissed him once or twice and then pulled back sighing. "But really, you shouldn't've," she said, but got cut off.
"No, not going to talk about it. I know I shouldn't have but I did, it's on the past now and we can't change that. I feel exactly the same on the inside, besides maybe a little more in love." He smiled at her.
"Benny Jackson," Nina joked, "You're grounded."
"You can't ground me! You're not my..." Benny stopped what he was saying. He looked down at the floor. "Let's go back to the blanket." He turned around, took her hand and started walked towards the tree, his eyes staring at the floor.
For a moment, she was confused as to why he stopped his sentence as they walked back to the blanket. Then, it hit her. "Oh my god, Benny, I'm so sorry." She apologized. She hung her head, disappointed in herself.
"Don't worry. You didn't realize. Let's just lie down and enjoy our time together. We only get this month before almost five apart. Sorry I dampened the mood." He wrapped his arm around her and held her close.
"It's not your fault, it's mine. Shouldn't have been so insensitive." She held onto him as she sat back down on the blanket.
"It all happened years ago. It shouldn't hit me that hard anymore. My life is so much better now. I have people who actually care about me in my life now. I have Usnavi, I have your mom, I have you and that's all I'll ever need. You." He looked at her as they sat next to each other.
"Well, the loss of a parent, even if not physical, is always heartbreaking. Scars never leave, even the mental ones. The bruise may not be fresh, but it's still a pressure point. Still a raw cut. Somethings never heal, Benny. It's my fault. I'm the one who touched your raw cut and made it sting."
"Honestly Nina, don't worry about it." He smiled at her then pulled her onto his lap, so she was facing him with her legs around his waist. "As I said, let's enjoy this time together. Talk about something else." He kissed her gently then pulled away smiling.
Nina gave him a small smile and then hugged him, her bad arm around his waist and her good arm over his shoulder. She laid her head on the shoulder without her arm on it.
"I love you" he whispered "so freaking much." He turned his head to face hers, her nose right in front of his lips.
"I love you so freaking much as well, oso."
Benny couldn't resist the urge. He kissed her on the nose, multiple times, giggling between each kiss.
She picked up her uninjured arm and pushed away his cheek, giggling. "Stop it!" Nina grinned, still laughing.
"Never" he laughed. Keeping an eye on her right arm Benny leant back so Nina was lying on top of him. He kissed her nose again, laughing. "Okay I'll stop now." He wrapped his arms around her, closing his eyes.
Nina rolled off him and to his side, shifting so that she was laying on her side, facing him. She laid her right arm down away from Benny and cuddled up next to him. She put her left arm under Benny's neck.
At the moment Benny opened his eyes. Looking directly at Nina's eyes. "I love how much your eyes sparkle when you look at me. It makes my heart beat faster."
"Do they? I never noticed." She nuzzled her face next to his shoulder and closed her eyes.
"Your eyes practically always sparkle or shimmer. And my heart always beats faster when around you. You make me happy and make every bad moment worth it, knowing you are right there for me.
"I wish I could say romantic things like that," she sighed. "Only problem is, whenever I try to, either something extremely awkward tumbles out, or nothing at all."
"Well I know you're thinking something romantic, right?"
"I guess so."
"That's all I need then." He closed his eyes and took her hand intertwining their fingers. His temple rested against hers.
"Okay," she squeaked. She wasn't quite sure why the tone of her voice heightened. She just snuggled closer to him, if that was possible. Then, she opened her eyes, looking into Benny's.
Benny kept his eyes closed not realizing Nina had opened hers. He was thinking about the rest of their date and what he was planning on doing. He had a few more locations in mind for where to go on their memories journey. He was most looking forward to the evening though, he was going to make it the night of her life.
When she realized that he still had his eyes closed, she just pecked his cheek and then snuggled up to him again, closing her eyes. Before she knew it, she was snoring. Her snores weren't annoyingly loud, but rather soft and cute. Finally, Nina was sleeping a bit.
AsNina snuggled into Benny's side. He rolled over wrapping is left arm over herbody. When he heard her gentle snores, he opened his eyes and breathed a smallsigh of relief. She was actually sleeping for once. Despite being in the middleof their date, Benny let Nina sleep. He figured she may not sleep again thatnight, so she needed the sleep badly. Benny actually enjoyed watching herrelax. He felt calm, seeing Nina in a calm state. He wanted to sleep himself, but he knew that would be a bad idea, so he kept his eyes open, looking at Ninafor several hours.
