73 - Falling Nervous

Benny held her close as they walked into the bodega. "Hey Usnavi, a few things. One, I'm guessing V is working. Two, can you give us a ride to the hospital again? I may be told I can't drive for a few days after they take the brace off. So just in case could you drive us? And three," Benny paused for a moment and looked at Nina, he smiled and then turned back to Usnavi. "Actually, just the first two, I've answered the third one myself."

"Yeah, V's working and sure, I can drive you. I'll just have Sonny take over the store for a few hours. I'm sure he won't have trouble hanging out with the Twinkies." Usnavi smirked and snickered at his little remark.

"Him and his Twinkies." Benny chuckled. "Sonny you're in charge! 'Snavi is taking me to the hospital. We will be back soon, behave!" Benny yelled towards the back room as he grabbed Usnavi's hand. "Let's go! I'm sick of this metal on my chest. And I'm sure Nina is too." He said smiling at her beside him.

"I am," Nina just said simply.

"Alright then," Usnavi said, "Let's go."

They all walked out the bodega and into Usnavi's truck. Benny and Nina sat in the back leaning on each other while Usnavi sat in the front and drove them. "I'm really excited but I'm also terrified." Benny said turning his head to face Nina.

"I know." She took his hand. "But you'll be alright. All you've got to do is get the metal off your chest and then we're out of there. They may do an extra x-ray just to make sure that everything's okay, but that's all. You'll be alright."

"Okay, thanks for the reassurance koala. I wish you could be there with me, but I know that's not possible." He stroked her knuckles with his thumb as they held hands.

"Don't I know it. But you'll be fine without me. It'll only be a few minutes." She kissed him on the cheek quickly.

"Hopefully." He leant his head on her shoulder terrified. He didn't want to be apart from Nina.

She sensed his fright and wrapped her arms around him. "It'll be alright, Benny. It'll be alright."

Benny wrapped his arms around her in return, and held her close, so he could lean on her. He'd already had the actual surgery, he didn't know why he was so nervous, but he was.

Nina played with his little bit of hair. "You'll be alright," she reassured again.

He snuggled into her side, as best as he could in a seatbelt and hummed. He liked it when Nina played with his hair, it relaxed him.

Nina let him lay on her just as she had done to him so many times. She knew he needed to be comforted. All she did was play with his hair and murmur comforting words to him.

"I love you" he whispered into her ear after about 45 minutes of her comforting him. "I really, really love you Nina."

"I really, really love you too boo, and I promise I'd do anything for you."

"I'd do anything for you as well. Thank you for being here with me."

"Of course."

Benny continued to lean against Nina for the rest of the ride, his head on her shoulder.

When they got there, it seemed that Benny had fallen asleep. "Benny," she said quietly, "It's time to go."

Benny opened his eyes and looked at Nina. He kissed her and whispered "okay baby."

She let him get out and then she got out, along with Usnavi.

Benny took her hand straight away and intertwined their fingers. He raised their hands and kissed hers before placing them back by their sides. They walk walked towards the entrance way and to the main reception desk. He signed in and they went to the waiting room and sat down.
