His brown face sticks out amongst the crowd of people that have come to help survivors of the Ark. This wide, teary eyed face would once make you smile but not anymore. It's been so long since you've last seen his face. It used to remind you of staying up all night, laughing until no sound came from your mouth, sharing a blanket and gazing at Earth, sleepovers, early mornings, sitting beside him during classes, running around the ark halls like children. He was your best friend before he had left.

Now it reminds you of laying in tears in bed until you fell asleep, alone. He would always be there for you and you would be there for him too. But one day, everything changed. You remember it like it was yesterday, even though it happened months ago.

"Bellamy?" You whispered, furrowing your eyebrows at the shadowy figure about to leave your room, "Why are you leaving so early?"

"Go back to bed, Y/N." Is all he replied, shutting the door behind him. This angered you and you stood up, not caring about finding shoes as you followed Bellamy out of your room.

"Bellamy, tell me what's going on." You spoke louder, rushing up to him as he walked down the hallway.

When you grabbed him by the arm, he turned to look at you. He must have noticed the dazed expression on your face. In Bellamy's head, he knew he was running out of time already. He had left it too late and you're only holding him back.

He had hoped he would make a clean exit, without having to face you. But he knew he was never good at cowardice as much as he was not good at honesty - especially hurtful honesty.

"You're scaring me." You begged, grasping tighter onto his sleeve. "Is this about Octavia? Are you trying to get her out?"

Bellamy looked down and at that point you should have known he didn't want to talk to you. Looking back, you wished you had just let him leave your room without any delays. Sometimes ignorance is bliss.

"Something like that..." He replied, not looking up at the hallway lights stood by watching from their position on the ceiling, "There's something I have to do."

"I'll do it with you." Your breath began to get heavier in your chest, making you panic. Bell almost smiled at your loyalty, wishing he could be the same. But he isn't.

"Alone." He shook his head, "I have to do it alone, Y/N. Tomorrow you'll find out. Everyone will know. Just go back to sleep until then." He looked up, giving you a reassuring smile.

"You'll tell me about it tomorrow?" You wondered, your eyes must have looked to innocent and helpless. When Bellamy doesn't reply, you furrowed your eyebrows, "Where are you going?"

He took a deep sigh, looking around quickly before pondering over the conversation. He truly didn't know how to talk about it.

You spoke for him, "Are you going to get hurt? Is it Shumway? I don't understand, I-"

"No, no." He cuts you off, shaking his head as he tapped his foot on the ground. He leans down slightly to match your height, aligning his eyes with yours. "I'll be alright. I'm doing what I can to protect Octavia."

"So this is about her." You leant back, "Bellamy, don't do anything stupid."

He chuckled, looking around the room with a small smile. "How many times have you told me that?"

"And how many times have you ignored it?" You shot back, raising an eyebrow at your best friend, "Look, I know I'm not close to her. Octavia's your sister and I get that... but that doesn't mean you have to do this alone.
