A month before...
"Be careful," she whispered, draping her arms around his neck, pulling him in for a tight hug.
He wraps his arms around her waist and hides half his face in the crook of her shoulder. After a moment or so, she releases him, and he offers her a reassuring kiss on her temple.
"I'm always careful" he responds, grinning like a fool, making her chuckle, despite the anxiety ever present in her heart.
"I'm serious, Bel," she says, watching as his grin fades into a soft smile. "Be extra careful, okay?"
"I promise, baby," he replies, taking hold of her trembling hands and tilting his head to make sure their eyes met.
And then he leaves.
Present...
She rests patiently on the hospital bed, trying to remain still as Abby ran tests on her. Bellamy, despite his consistent pleads, was forced to wait outside whilst his girlfriend had needles and lights penetrate her body.
"And your memory still hasn't returned?"
She begins to panic, her heart starts to race, as she tries to tell a lie with Abby, the woman who practically raised her, stared her right in the eye.
A satisfied smile begins to etch it itself across her face, and in that moment, she knew that Abby had already figured it out.
"What gave it away?" Y/n asks, dropping her eyes to her hands as she fiddled with the hem of her hospital gown.
"Intuition," Abby answered, placing her tools on the edge of the bed before returning to the seat in front of Y/n. "You have a tell, Y/n. Quite a subtle one, and it's also really easy to tell when you're feeling anxious."
"Don't tell him," she pleaded, knitting her eyebrows together and widening her eyes. "I can't explain why, but I just don't want him to know I remember. Not yet."
Abby understood. The Y/n and Bellamy everyone in Arkadia came to know and adore weren't the same individuals as before. She understood this enough to not tell Bellamy, but couldn't help herself from reminding Y/n that lying won't benefit anyone.
"Pike is still going to keep you locked up with the grounders until he knows you've got your memory back. Do you-"
"No," she interrupts, shaking her head vigorously. "I don't want to leave Lincoln yet. Not until I know he's gonna be okay."
She nods once again, before helping Y/n up and walking me out, to which she was greeted by an impatient Bellamy, eager to know the state of his girlfriend's health.
Abby shakes her head, and makes her way back into the sick bay, trying not to frown too much at Bellamy's disappointment.
"At least you're feeling better," he muttered, trying his best to look on the bright side.
He walked her back into the section in which they held the grounders and prisoners captive. It pained him to have to go through this every day, but he didn't want to disobey Pike's orders, even though that's exactly what Y/n was counting on him to do.
"How much longer do I have to stay here?"
"Until you get you memory back" he replied, his sadness showing through the tone of his voice. "I hate having to do this, but it's Pike's orders. I'll be back in the morning for your next check up. Goodbye, my love."
Bellamy kisses her temple, just like he did a month ago, before turning around and walking away, just as he did a month ago, leaving Y/n to daze off and mumble, absentmindedly, in return.
"Goodbye, Bel."
He stops, so instantly, the sound of his shoe coming to halt, echoed through the empty corridor.
"Bel," he repeats, turing himself back to Y/n, and taking slow steps towards her. "Why did you call me that?"
She enters frustration, as she begins to beat herself up for being so careless, before the anxiety made its return to her blood vessels.
"Let me explain-"
"You knew?" He exclaims, capturing the attention of the grounders, Lincoln in particular. "You knew who I was all this time, and let you me believe that you didn't? You let me loose sleep over this? Let me stay up so many hours dwelling over what I could've done differently to protect you?"
"Bellamy I-"
"You what?" He spits sharply, avoiding eye contact with you, no matter how many ways you tilted your head. "What can you possibly say to fix this?"
"I was captured by Ice Nation," you explain, looking him daringly in the eyes, to emphasise your explanation. "I was beaten, tortured and, to make matters worse, they poisoned me with an unknown substance that basically gave me temporary-amnesia. When Lexa killed the ice queen, and Roan let me go, I got my memory back on the journey back here, and the first thing I wanted to do was see you, and make sure you were okay."
Bellamy was listening, Y/n could tell so from the way he remained quiet as she spoke.
"But then I find myself standing in a field of dead bodies, women, men even children, and am nearly shot by a group of guards, until I dodge enough bullets for them to realise who I was. I thought it was a nightmare. I thought it was just a joke being played and that you were waiting behind those gates for me. But then a man shows up, claims he's the chancellor and locks me up in here, where Lincoln caught me up on everything that happened in the month I was gone."
She tries not to cry, but reminiscing about the horror of it all, seeing the dead bodies and greeting death all over again, shook her in indescribable ways.
"Bel, you massacred an army of innocent people, sent out to protect you. You've got all these innocent people locked up for no apparent reason, all because someone told you it was the right thing to do?"
"Grounders took you away from me," he whispered, softening his tone and walking closer to her. "I thought you were dead, Y/n. I thought the only thing that made sense in my life, the only thing that I could come home to was stolen from me."
"You were never a follower, Bel," she replied, holding his face in the palms of her hands. "Let alone a follower of the wrong leader."
He pushes her hands away softly, sniffling softly, before turning his back.
And leaves.
