A week had nearly passed since the last time we spoke to each other. There was always a painfully hollow feeling in my chest whenever Bellamy and I had fights like these; the ones that end in us not talking for days on end. However, I did my best to keep myself occupied, and to push that pain away. I knew that he was wrong about killing all of those grounders, and following Pike's lead. I also knew that perhaps I may have been in the wrong as well, for letting Bellamy believe that I had no clue as to who he was.
"He'll come around," Lincoln said sympathetically, taking a seat beside me on the ground. When I first got locked up Lincoln was the only one who was kind to me, but after my fight with Bellamy, everyone began warming up to me, once they realised I didn't agree with anything that Pike was doing. "If I know anything about being with a Blake, it's that their stubborn as hell." A light chuckle slipped out of my mouth, making all the nearby grounders smiles a small bit.
"- However," he continued, his posture softening up. "Even though their stubborn, if you just give them time to cool off and see the whole situation properly, they'll come around in no time." His eyes looked out into the corridor, and then returned back to me. "Speaking of the devil..."
I sat up straight almost instantaneously, and I promptly stood up when I could feel Bellamy's tall figure on the other side of the bars. Lincoln slowly backed away from two of us, which then left me and Bellamy in tension-filled silence, as we stood on opposite sides of the bars, with absolutely nothing to say.
"I talked to Pike," Bellamy said, which made me feel even more uneasy than I did when he first arrived. When he spoke he looked at the ground rather than looking me in the eye, which just about confirmed that I was not going to like what he was going to say. "A guard is going to come and take you to your assigned room. I thought you might like to say goodbye to Lincoln."
"No," I said after a small moment passed.
"Y/n-"
"I said no, Bellamy," my words came out sharper and colder than I had anticipated, but I was in too much anger and frustration to give a damn. "I'm not gonna go anywhere with anyone that works that man."
"... Not even me?"
I look at Bellamy with eyes of nothing but utter and intense annoyance. I loved him, even when we argued like this, but he was not about to use my love for him as a weapon against me. Not even he was going to get away with that.
"Is that only reason you came here?" I asked, not looking him directly in the eye. "Because if it is, you can go now, 'cause I'm not leaving."
"Y/n, please stop this," Bellamy cried, finally looking me in the eye. "Just come home."
And that was it for me. All of the anger and frustration faded behind an emotion much more powerful. My posture softened, and my eyes began to water, much to my dismay. I sniffle harshly and let out a fake chuckle.
"How ironic," I began, as I fiddled with my hands so that I didn't have to look him in the eye. "You know, when I first left Azgeda, I crossed through a small village. Not sure which clan they were apart of, but, gosh... they were such good people. I met a little boy and his parents. They gave me a place to sleep for a few nights, fed me and showed me the way here."
He was curious to know where the story was going, or maybe he didn't know how to respond to my sudden sadness. Either way, he stood on the opposite side of the cell and did what everyone had been praying he would eventually do: he shut up and listened.
"About two days before I left the village, the family and almost everyone there left. Said they were told by the head of their clan to stand outside Arkadia, and protect Skaikru from anyone that wanted to hurt them. The little boy... his name was Orion, and..."
I find myself in sobs, and without truly realising it, I leaned against the bars, which allowed Bellamy to swipe a stray hair away from my face. I forgot how much I missed him doing that whenever I needed comforting.
"I told him I would miss him because I would. But he just shook his head, gave me a hug, and told me that we would see each other soon. That, because of the coalition, we were all one. That his home was my home, and mine was his... And he told me he was happy I would finally... Just make it home."
All of the grounders inside the cell had stopped what they were doing. Even though not all of them were looking directly at Bellamy and me, there was no denying that all of them were listening in.
"I know that you meant well, Bellamy," Y/n looks at him and, at last, she is finally speaking truthfully. "- but tell me again how killing every last grounder that was there was the right thing to do."
Bellamy stared at her, unable to say anything in response. Instead, he frowns at his shoes, before slowly backing away, hoping Y/n knew what he was about to do. And she did.
For she knew that her anecdote was all that was necessary for him to come to his senses. She needed him to start seeing grounders as humans, and equal counterparts, rather than predator-savages. Y/n knew that if she could get that to happen, he would know what the right thing is.
And he, finally, did.
