(fast forwarded 3 months)

 I spent the last 3 months crying every night over Diego. 

this past month was the first month I spent away from him. id been staying at our house. I couldn't bare to sleep in the bed. so I crashed on the couch.

I had to get over it. I spent thousands of dollars just to keep him on life support. 

he wasn't coming back. but I was willing to spend every last dime to keep him as alive as he'd get. 

lately, I've really been getting into music again. lucas has been helping me get gigs in bars, restaurants, anywhere I can really get my feelings out.

" you ready? I'm going to run you by the hospital, and then to the bar so you can be on time for your gig tonight." lucas walked into the bathroom, looking at his watch as I was fixing my hair. 

" um... I dont wanna go to the hospital... I just wanna go straight to the bar tonight..." I say quietly. 

" you don't want to tell Diego about your gig tonight?" he looks at me concerned. 

" no..." I turn around and lean against the sink as I play with the ring, on the gold chain around my neck. 

I felt the tears start to rise. 

" madeline...dont fall apart now..." lucas walks over to me, wrapping his arms around me.

" I haven't gone to see him for a month..." I say. feeling as guilty as ever. 

" the doctors have called you every single day to tell you how he's been.. don't worry.. they are taking care of him..." he whispers in my ear.

Lucas has been a really good friend for the past few months. 

"come on." he smiles. 

" we have a show to get too. and YOU have a show to perform at tonight!" he grabs my hand pulling me out the door. 

"its a bar! not even a actual show!" I laugh as we get in the car. 

as we got to the bar, we set up the equipment and the band got everything together. 

" tonight performing , is Madeline Rose!!" the guy with the microphone yells. 

as I got up on the stage, I looked out into the crowd of drunk, lonely people who usually goes to bars to forget about a loved one. but the reason I'm here, is to keep my loved one alive in my heart and mind. 

the song I was singing tonight was "Piece By Piece by Kelly Clarkson" 

as I started singing, everyone was clapping and swaying along to the music. 

this is what I loved doing. 

Diegos POV

I was coughing. my eyes felt as if they were glued together. 

when I slowly cracked them open. a lady was standing over me, looking terrified. 

"this isn't possible...." she whispers. 

" wheres madeline..." I found a voice inside of me to speak.
