"babe, were you crying just now?" I slowly walked up to Madeline as she wiped her eyes.
"no I'm fine." she shook her head, letting out a small fake laugh.
"okay for one, your a fucking liar, and you need to tell me why you were crying. right now. Madeline, Im not stupid. I heard you crying when I walked past the door to get a hoodie out of the closet!" I said loudly while pulling her closer to me.
"its just..I miss him so much..." she starts to cry again against my chest.
"baby, who?" I whispered as I rested my chin on her head.
"liam.." she mumbled.
"babe look at me okay?" I said while pushing her away so she could see me.
"he's gone okay? theres nothing you can do to bring him back! once he's gone, he's gone! and I really wish theres something we could've done to stop him, but there wasn't! there was nothing we could do about it. we didn't know! so stop putting the blame on yourself and start appreciating the shit you've gone through and survived!" I say trying my best to get her to understand.
" no ...I can't.." the tears fall even harder as she sits down in the floor, resting against the wall.
"no, you CAN you just don't want too.." I slowly kneeled down in front of her
"think about us Madeline...think about her or him...." I point, while gently rubbing my hand over her stomach.
" I don't want too..." she shakes her head while covering her face.
"well you bette start wanting to. this stress is not good for the baby. and ill be damned if I let some dead boy ruin this chance at a family together." I grabbed her hands, putting them to my mouth.
"hes not some dead boy...he was my best friend...." her voice cracks.
"yes, he WAS. but now you have me, and this baby to worry about....stop putting so much pressure on yourself and start focusing on the ones around you, that love you and that are here for you.." my heart was breaking just from seeing her like this. it hurt to see her so upset.
she didn't say anything after that.
"come on...lets go to bed... I have a day planned out for us tomorrow.." I kissed her forehead and helped her out of the floor.
"okay.." she whispered quietly and walked to the bedroom, climbing in bed and snuggling up underneath the covers.
I turned off the lights and climbed in the bed next to her. "goodnight baby girl. I love you." I kissed her cheek before wrapping my arms around her, holding her tightly.
I felt Madeline sigh before saying..
"Diego. I never said I was keeping the baby."
