L E X U S~ Chapter Twenty One ~
Getting off of work I walk in the house noticing my door's been tampered with. "The hell?" I mumble looking around in each room. Putting my hand on the gun tucked in my waist I approach the kitchen seeing the lights are on when I left them off this morning. "Surprise!" Rayne jumps wrapping her arms around my waist almost causing me to shoot her ass. "Girl you can't be doin' that." I waddle to the counter setting my keys and my gun down with Rayne's arms still wrapped around me.
She yawns. "I'm not lettting go until you hug me back."
"How imma hug you if you behind me?" She comes around and I notice she's wearing makeup and her hair is straightened. "You look good, where was you at today?" I ask still not hugging her back. I look down seeing her wear some baggy sweats and a white tee. "Stoppp." She whines covering it up by crossing her hands.
I laugh. "I went out with Jacob but I changed before I came here." The room gets quiet, I didn't know she was back talking to that nigga but it really ain't none of my business. "Oh." Is all I say pretending to be busy on my phone. "Why you break into my house? The date was that bad?" I ask smirking. She hits my arm smiling. "I didn't break in, I thought you were home and I had gifts."
"Watchu got fa me?" I ask now putting my phone back down. She does a little happy dance to the fridge and opens it revealing she bought me groceries. The last time she came over she kept saying how sad and pitiful it looked in here so I'm not even surprised. "But wait there's more." She opens the now full pantry.
"You get on my nerves." I say unintentionally boxing her in by putting my hands on the counter where she's standing. "You really care about a nigga health huh?" I tease. "Hmm?" Shrugging her shoulders she looks away from me. "You be acting so fake shy dawg." Moving out of her personal space I sit on the counter across from her. "You're a big sack of bones so I just don't want you to die on me." I pinch her thigh. "Let me borrow some of this then. This should be enough right here." She tries to keep from laughing. "I'm leaving."
"Uh uh." I get down blocking her from leaving. "You got all these groceries like you was finna do somethin' in tha kitchen. I just got off work, get in there Rayne."
"I don't know how to cook." I gasp. "How you ah thick God fearing woman and you don't know how to cook? I'm tellin' everybody at church and you not gon' be able to get a man." I stick my tongue out looking in the refrigerator to see what imma eat. "I don't care." She laughs taking off her makeup with wipes she must've got from the store. "Can you cook?"
"Baybeh I throws it down." I say confidently. Rolling her eyes she waves me off. Picking up a blunt I must've had in my pocket she sets it back down then looks around the house. I turn on some music and I start cooking some shrimp pasta in red sauce with garlic bread since that's what Rayne said she wanted in so many words. While I cook she just watches from a distance not saying much. Once the food is done and I fix our plates we eat in silence other than her telling me how good the food is every now and then.
"I can wash the dishes." She takes my plate and hers to the sink. "So you gonna tell me about your date or?"
"It wasn't a date. It was a list everything that's wrong with Rayne party and I had to sit and listen. Jacob doesn't wanna be with me because he loves me, he wants to be with me because he's scared out of his mind. I never realized how stressed out he must've been watching after me or taking care of me because I did something stupid. He has every right to be unhappy." She says washing then drying each dish.
"Y'all gettin' back together?" Shrugging she turns to look at me. "I doubt it. I can't even bring myself to tell him about us kissing. I'm selfish and on top of that I'm a liar."
"Why you makin' it a big deal? We kissed and we're single." I state. "You're right. It's not like we like each other." She says wiping the counter and stove off. Twisting a piece of my hair I watch her for a minute. "If you ain't feel nothin' when I kissed you then tell him it didn't mean shit to you or you don't tell him at all."
"I did feel something..." We both bust out laughing. "You needa quit playin' man." She holds her side laughing like it was the funniest thing ever. "You look like you saw a ghost." She snorts.
"Because I didn't know what I was gon' tell your ass if you was tryna come onto me. I gotta go shower." I laugh leaving Rayne in the kitchen. I take a quick shower and I come out in a towel sitting on the edge of my bed so I can check my phone. Vanessa sent me a screenshot of flight details she booked and some nudes. Sighing I toss the phone to the side so I can get dressed. "Lexus do you have a-"
"My dick is out." I say since I didn't bother closing the door. "Jesus, I wasn't gonna come in." She yells. "Do you have a vacuum?"
"Oh yeah. Look in the closet by the front door." I put my boxers on then some basketball shorts. "I appreciate yo-" Rayne screams covering her eyes once I reach the end of the hall. Sucking my teeth I laugh. "Girl I'm not gon' come out the room balls swingin'. I got clothes on now." Once she uncovers her eyes she immediately starts looking at the tattoos on my body like a little kid. "Did this hurt?" Shaking my head she runs her finger across the "A" on my neck. "What's the A for?"
"My mama's name was Arianna Alsina."
"I wish I could've met her." She says. The other day I ended up telling Rayne stories I remembered about my mom and how pretty she was. She was like ah angel walking on earth despite the hell she was going through. "You remind me of her, she would've liked you."
