~ Chapter Thirty ~

I hold Rayne's hand walking around by the restaurant since she wanted to walk past the lil boutiques we saw on our way here. "This is so pretty." She pulls me in the direction of a window with a dress Rayne obviously likes. She takes a picture of it sending it to her girlfriends in the group chat as she says. "Ooh look." She points at a man selling cotton candy but I pull her back. "Uh uh you don't know what that nigga done put in that cotton." I frown seeing she's still the same from when I first met her. We walk to a fountain with different color lights flashing in it. "I didn't tell you but you look good.. really good." I bite my lip allowing her to walk ahead of me. "Thanks." She smiles looking at the fountain in amazement. Rayne isn't the type of girl I thought I would go for but lately these other girls don't even compare. She's smart, beautiful inside and out, she goes to church, she's caring, she ain't easy, she can literally put a smile on anybody's face, she's just a good girl in general and I've grown to like that. "Rayne." She turns around hearing me call her name.

"Huh?"

"Stop playin' me like you don't like me." She sighs loudly. "We're holding hands." She states the obvious goofily. "I was just in a long term relationship, I thought I was gonna get married before I turned twenty one but I'm single for the first time in my adulthood so this is about the pace I'm willing to take things and I know you want more and probably expect more because you're an eighteen year old boy- well man but holding hands is all I've got at the moment. So no I'm not playing as if I don't like you, I'm just reall-" I lean down kissing her. "I'm fine with just holdin' hands boo." She opens her mouth to say something but she shuts it smiling at the ground.

"You ready to go back?" I ask. She nods so I call the Uber. We end up sitting on a bench to wait because her heels was starting to hurt her feet walking on this stone. "I'm sleepy, today was exhausting." She yawns. I nod agreeing with her. Drinking til you drunk during the day is something nobody should do. Rayne leans her head on my shoulder just as my phone rings. I stand up forgetting all about Rayne seeing it's Vanessa finally calling me back. "Hello?" I answer.

"Hey.." I pause hearing her voice come through the phone, she sounds tired. "You okay? Is the baby- did you get tha abortion?"

"I'm okay, the baby is fine." I sigh out of relief thanking God. "I'm sorry Vanessa, I'm done stressin' you and puttin' you through shit. Imma make all this up ta you, I promise."

"I'm back in New Orleans Lexus." I take the phone away from my ear trying to see if I heard her correctly. "Why? So you not even gonna give me a chance ta be a dad?"

"We're done Lexus there's no reason for me to be in Houston. My job is here, my home is here, my whole life is here. If the baby gets here you can see it whenever you want to, I'm not gonna stop you from being a dad." She talks slowly. "What you mean if?" I frown.
