"Girl I barely see you outside of work." Nova sighs fanning her face with the program. "When you had that lil thug in your bed is last I saw of you." She gives me her signature side eye.
"That's a lie, that was like a month and a half ago plus it wasn't like that." I playfully shove her. I look out at the field trying to see if I see a familiar face but I don't yet. "I know I just like to see you sweat. You see Jacob?" Giving the field one more scan I shield my eyes from the sun. "No, Dad you see him?" I ask now standing on my tippy toes. Today is the day of Jacob's graduation from basic training and I have yet to spot him amongst all of these nicely dressed soldiers. "Can't say I do. You sure today is the right day?" Looking as if he's lost his complete mind I answer matter of factly. "I've been waiting for this day for months now. I'm absolutely positively certain today is the right day daddy." Nova smiles nodding her head signaling me to turn around and when I do I start balling my eyes out.
"Jacobbb!" He smiles wrapping his arms around me. Finally being in his embrace after so long feels amazing and the only words I can manage to get out is "I love you."
"I love you too babygirl. You look beautiful." He whispers leaving pecks on the side of my neck. "Stop crying Rayne." He wipes some of my tears gently trying to avoid messing up my makeup. Looking up at the sky I swallow the lump in my throat to gain some control. I didn't think I would be this emotional once I finally laid eyes on him, I suppose it's all built up emotions. Him being away from me for so long goes on the list of toughest things I've had to deal with in my life. He's my best friend.
"I'm very proud of you Jacob, you did it." I smile. "This is just the beginning of your career and I couldn't be any more happier for you. I prayed to God that he would guide you. I just want to say I love you, that is all." I stop my rambling as Jacob and I hold hands just looking into each other's eyes.
"You guys are too cute! I wanna throw up." I hear Nova complain but I ignore her. The way his brown eyes stare down at me is just too captivating. He let's go of my hands deciding to rest his hands on my hips. "I couldn't of done none of this without you princess." We kiss but I cut it short not forgetting my father is standing not even three feet away. "My dad." I mumble wiping the red lipstick off his lips with my thumb.
"Uh we were actually gonna go ahead and leave. Isn't that right Mr. Morris?"
"We were?" He looks confused until Nova gives him a look. "Oh! Oh yes I'm gonna drop Nova off then I'll probably catch up on some tv." They all exchange hugs and goodbyes before they head off to the hotel. Since we're in Augusta Georgia for his graduation I knew we would have to sleep in a hotel so I booked a fancy one ten minutes away from the one they're staying at. "What's on you mind?" I rub my acrylic nails up then down his arm as he lays his head in my lap.
"This is surreal."he talks in a low tone. "Touching you and feeling you..." he turns his head so I can give him a kiss. "Some nights I would be in the bed just thinking about your laugh or your smile. After our disagreement all I thought about was losing you" he admits just as the Uber parks in front of the hotel. He looks at me for a few seconds then moves allowing me to get out of the car. He grabs his duffle bag then follows me to the room in a comfortable silence.

"This is to new beginnings." I pour red wine into two glasses then I hand him one. "No this is to you going to one of the best colleges out here and working hard. To you being great so we can be great together." He holds the glass up looking me right in the eye, touching glasses we both sip. Setting his down on the night stand he pulls me closer to him by my pajama pants instantly kissing my neck . "I love you.." he mumbles between each kiss he leaves on me.
I down my glass of wine feeling his hands start to travel. "Babe?"
"I just wanna kiss you that's all." Heat travels through my whole body so I instantly start to pray to Lord Jesus and every angel above. Somehow we end up getting on the bed then the lights get turned off and I end up downing Jacob's glass of wine too.
