Chapter 26 (read the 1st A/N)

A/N: So I hate being one of those people who don't update their story in such a long period of time so sry this took so long... I was in a mental hospital for the past two weeks... haha- yeah. Enjoy! :|

Chapter 26

Y/N's POV

"Mommy!! Me and Mads are hungryyy" I shouted stumbling up to my mother

"Well what does Maddie want to eat?"

"Wut about wut I wanna eat!"

"Maddie is our guest" she says giving me a look

I turn my head to the left and Maddie sticks her tongue out at me like a true 5 year old

"Oh whatever" I whine but then let out a slight giggle when Maddie smiles

8 years into the future we're at the bay.

I sit down in the water with my life vest on and Maddie follows. I didn't know how to swim but she did, so she didn't have one on.

We sat their with short waves splashing against us

"I'm just gonna let go and see where the waves take me" I said turning to my front

Once again - Maddie follows. Bad decision

We start to slowly drift off and it's fun until our feet can't touch the ground and the waves keep pulling us away.

Her family did absolutely nothing to save us even though they could clearly see us begging for mercy. But after a while of swallowing saltwater, trying to escape from dead crabs and just straight hell we got back on the boat.

"Happy Birthday, Y/N!" All my friends and family shout when I blow out my candles

"I got you a little something Ms. I'm Grown-Up" Maddie says sliding a box across the table

"First of all I'm only 2 months older than you. You'll be 20 in a few weeks too."

"But it's exciting! You're no longer a teen, how does it feel?" She nudges my arm with her elbow

"Exactly the same" I chuckle while opening the box she gave me

I opened the present and saw two tickets to an Ed Sheeran concert. She's the best

I woke up in a sweat. I couldn't imagine my life without her. I was so startled by all  the flashbacks that I woke up Dan who was holding me tight from behind.

We both sat up half way on the couch and he brushed my hair behind my ear.

"Do you think you want to talk about what happened now?"

"yes please."

We sit on Dans bed and he faces me while I look at the blank wall ahead. I take a deep breath.

"So... I have a childhood bestfriend. We've known each other since we were 4. Our mothers were friends and we ended up going to the same Pre-k. We've been together ever since except university. She's like my sister."

"I got a call from her mother-" I could barely form the rest of my sentence, "she's in a coma, Dan" I say with a wavy voice falling into his chest in tears.

He raps his arms around me and his head lays gently on mine.

"I think its partly my fault. She got hit - by a - car... On her way to my party"

Dan releases me to look me in the eye.

"This is nobody's fault. This is just a coincidence, it's something that just happened. You can't blame your friendship as the reason for her being in the hospital right now. I wouldn't want you to do that to yourself, ever"

I nod my head and lay back in his arms.
"Can I stay here for the rest of the week. I packed my clothes and everything anyways."

"of course."

"Where should I sleep?" I asked still leaning on his shoulder. I really didn't want to be alone. And I wasn't sure of what we were... If we were ignoring what role Phil plays in all of this

"You could sleep in here and I'd be on the couch" Dan spoke unsure

"You'd leave your girlfriend alone at a time like this...?"

"Girlfriend. Did I officially ask you to be that?"

"What if I asked you?"

"What if, you didn't need to." Dan releases a breath and secures his grip around me
