Chapter 43

Dan's POV

There was a pause. A moment for her to collect her thoughts. But how many could there be?

Maddie was alive! Maddie was actually okay! Damn. A lot HAS changed since yesterday.

After what seemed like less than two seconds I saw her run and wrap her arms around her best friend. Maddie returned the hug with no hesitation and I couldn't help but smile.

"Why didn't anyone tell me you were up!" Y/N yelled and I chuckled.

"She just woke up yesterday and her memory was still a little 'iffy', we didn't want to worry you" Maddie's Mom answers

"You remember me right?" Y/N asks quickly and anxiously.

"I would never forget us" Maddie replies

"Oh my god, I couldn't even IMAGINE ever losing you and I don't WANT to."

"I couldn't imagine that either" Maddie smiles
and pulls her in for one more hug. They stay there for a while Maddie's face over Y/N's shoulder. When Maddie finally opens her eyes they meet with mine and they skim me up and down.

Almost immediately Maddie pulls away and starts whispering so that I can't hear. Both of them slowly look over to me and start giggling to the point where I feel very uncomfortable and... embarrassed for some reason?

Maddie's POV

Holy

    Mother

            Of

                  SHIT!

I turn to Y/N and whisper "Is that Dan Howell?
Like 'You're brother's bestfriend' Dan Howel?
Like 'hadacrushonhimsinceyoufirstmethim' Dan Howell?" I look her dead in the eye

"Yes. That Dan Howell." She reassures me

"Why is he here? Is Phil here?" I ask

"Yes, Phil is here. And Dan, he's just being a good friend and coming with me." (Y/N's POV: I didn't wanna tell her we were dating yet. This was fun and I wanted her to be surprised with everyone else)

"mhmm. Now did he come for you? Or did he come for Phil?

"Why does that matter?"

I gasp "He came for you didn't he?! Pfft. 'good friend' Yeah right, he definitely likes you. Do you still kinda like him?"

"You ask a lot of questions don't you?" She whispers back with her hands on her hips

"Do you?!!" I whisper shout.

We simultaneously turn our heads to face him and look back at eachother laughing.

..."I'll have to get back to you on that." She says walking away. Damn. This is exciting. I wonder how much they've talked since I was in a coma. I remember them not having that many conversations in the past.

We decide on the fact I should go back to Y/N's to meet and hang out with her and her friends.

Y/N and Phil head off to use the bathroom quickly before we go and a tall figure walks closer to me. I look up at his face.

"Hi. I'm Dan, -" but I cut him off mid sentence

"Oh. I know exactly who you are Daniel."

"Excuse me?" He asks

"I'm her best friend. She tells me everything. I've heard all about you back when Phil and you started being friends, and you met at YouTube conventions... Not to mention Phil hung out with my older sister. I've always known who you were."

I wonder off in thought. Not mentioning the part where Y/N went home and told me she thought Dan was kinda cute once. I bugged her about it ever since.

"Back up... Sh-she used to talk about me?" I can see his face go red. Does he like her??

"Yes, tomato face. She may have mentioned you once or so" I smirk and Dan holds a hand up to his cheek to feel the hotness of his blush

"What did she say?"

"I'm afraid I can't answer that. That's confidential information- closed off by the best friend."

"What??! Pleaseeee?" He whines

"Oh man up Howell! Isn't there anything you've told to Phil that no one else can know?" I ask

He hesitates, about to speak but then his head goes down in defeat.

"Ha! Gotcha."

"I can see why you guys are friends." He smiles

"And I can see why she always liked you."

"What?" He says suddenly intrigued and that's when Phil comes out of the men's room

I wink and whisper as I walk past him, "I've said too much already." That's when Y/N also exits the bathroom

He stands there for a moment as me, Y/N, and Phil start walking away and he gradually catches up to us.

I sigh happily.

Feels good to be back
