Chapter 40

Phil's POV

"Where have you been?" I say on the top of the stairs

I could tell Dan had something witty to say but held back. We stood in silence before he followed me as I barged into the lounge

"Come back, we need to talk" he says.

"Is there much else you need to say after your little speech?" I was heated. Dan's speech did get me thinking though, maybe I was causing too much stress but I was just doing what's right

"Am I supposed to be sorry? Then yeah, Phil. Sorry I fired back-"

"I think you're sorry for the wrong reasons!"

"I disagree."

"What?!"

"I'm not apologizing for dating someone, who's available and likes me back. Am I missing some kind of law?"

"The law where you dive blindly off the cliff, disregarding other people's feelings!" I could feel my vision go blurry

"I know what you're thinking, but it's not like she was some kind of bait when she arrived! I didn't look at her and think, 'oh she's hot, i'll just-'" he got cut off

...when I punched him in the face... and he fell down on the ground. He did a quick grunt before cupping his face with his hand

"HOW DO I KNOW THAT? HOW AM I SURE YOU'RE NOT JUST LIKE HIM?" I yelled and felt the tears run down the sides of my face while Dan froze. He stared at the ground in realization

"You. You were just

Because-" he paused "because I didn't before." I finished his sentence

he looked up at me, I was full on crying and fell to my knees.

"Phil, what happened before?" he asked

We went to the kitchen to ice Dan's face before it was time for me to confess
