Chapter 56

Dan's POV

"It was the night of Zoe's Playlist Live creator party with all of our friends" Phil began

*Flashback to 2 years ago* (bold is Phil narrating over the memory)

"Hey." Dan said.

"Oh. Hi. I was gonna say hello but I was afraid you wouldn't remember me, and then it'd be horrifyingly awkward." Y/n giggled

"Not remember you? C'mon, Lester we don't talk often but I'd remember your face" Dan replied

"Good to know. I'm gonna say hi to Zo, see ya around tonight."

"See ya." Dan said as y/n walked away

That's when y/n talked to me and Zo.

"Hey Phil, Hi Zo! So happy you invited me."

"Of course I did, Bestie." Zoe replied

"Yeah yeah, hold your horses- Maddie still exists."

"Damn. I really need to win this thing" Zoe said

After some banter she brought you up

"Just talked to Howell over there"

"Oh no. Who else has been chatting you up?" Phil asked

"'chatting me up'? Calm down, Phil. It's Dan. He's not exactly gonna sweep me off into the night."

"Right. Sorry" Phil replied, "he can just get especially confident and stupid when he's drunk" Phil said

Luckily you've changed since then, because later that night...

"C'mon Dan we have to leave. We have a panel earlier on in the day, tomorrow." Phil warned

"Listen Mr. Moral Compass, I get it but give me like an hour or so. Alfie said he wants to talk since we haven't hung out in a while." Dan replied

"Seriously? Dan Howell doesn't want to leave a social gathering??" Phil said in disbelief

"Relax Phil, he's a grown man. We'll meet up with you later" Alfie said, coming up from behind Phil and patting him on the shoulder

So I said fine... I shouldn't have I guess. Anyhow Alfie continued to manipulate you into doing shots until you were drunk off your ass.

*Back to the present*

"The next time I saw you, you were-"

"kissing Cat" I said, cutting Phil off and finishing the sentence. I suddenly recalled that night.

"When you asked the next morning, I lied."

Cat took total advantage of my mental state. If anything- I was way more into the idea of possibly getting to kiss y/n, even back then!

"I have to go tell her." I said as I bolted out of the room. Good thing I did

... I was almost too late.
