a million diamond fires

jan10twenty18

how dare my heart betray me, pulled from my feet up. I hang adaze, and I'm stupified. my heart daresay to whisper hums, to bubblegum beats that pound in my hollow soul.

I swore always, and so always there will be. the heart is another, the heart desires - craves - needs - to pine after something. always there shall always be.

she's a million shining diamonds and I'm blinded, she's an inferno burning me cold. I stumble over her free verse voice, powerful and smirked. she knows not that she is a million diamond fires, setting fire to the heart settlements I've worked so hard to defend.

she's somehow dancing to every song, and creating worlds with just her fingertips. singing along with the broken but pushing forth as the brave. claiming otherwise, but I know it's true - the effort taken just to drag your mortal vessel through another day is worth the world.

the pain's an old friend, long acquainted. I see a million diamond fires reflected in their soul, and I see that pain must be good for something.

and I may be walking on the tightrope over the abyss, but I want to be warmed by a million

diamond

fires.
