sunset silhouette

feb10twenty18

I was caught dangling, the edge of a shadow leaving me powerless to save us from the precarious dark that overwhelmed me from the start.

suddenly the sun had set, and the moon was vacant in the sky. eternal night laid forth as the sun and moon walked on separate sides of the earth, the stars guiding them dim and flickering.

we had to do so much to take a few steps. in the rush of the setting sun I could not say the words I meant to, and the colors seemed to stun me on this penultimate day. I grabbed at all of the rays I possibly could, but they are all but fading in my tired tears.

there is no longer light, for there is no longer you. there is only darkness with occasional twilight sporadically spread in between. I'm attracted to the idea of you setting yourself free, for it will set me free too.

locked in sorrowful songs and pretty pictures, I'm a dark pastel mess of rainbow left runny with tears and the emotion that sits beside anger.

you are the sky, and oh how I miss every single color.

I'd dance just for you when the nightlight goes out
