Niche has always been Gene’s sanctuary. She occupies a lot in his mind, much more than any girl who established connection with him since he lost his mom.

Nung makabalik si Niche mula sa ospital, he kept noticing some changes in her. She became more courageous in showing her feelings toward him but more anxious about something he couldn’t figure out.

How he noticed? He saw her reading something before in her locker, before she saw him and approached him about their problem. Sinadya niya talagang buksana ng locker niya nun kahit wala naman siyang kukunin.

“Gene!” she exclaimed, pero parang hangin na binaliwala niya ito. Lalampasan pa nga sana niya ito pero hinawakan nito ang manggas ng suot niyang white shirt, but he tried to keep his stoic expression. “Sumunod ka na lang sa canteen. Hinihintay ka nila Coach.”

Tuluyan na sana siyang aalis nang alisto itong humarang sa daanan niya, earning his arched brow.

“I know I did wrong Gene, and I’m so sorry. Pero sana makinig ka naman sakin. Hindi lang ikaw ang nahihirapan.”

 “I don’t know what to say…” he stood in confusion.

“You don’t have to say anything because I knew you’ve done a lot already. Now, I know that this is quite weird but, can you reconsider the courtship? I’ll even be happy if I’ll be the one to show my efforts now,” she asked in extreme determination.

“Niche, I…need to think about it,” he trailed and with a rush, he went away.

But what she didn’t know is he just hid nearby. He saw how she gazed at something she has in her hand and how nonchalantly she crumpled it and tossed it to a nearby trashcan.

This is written on a plain sticky note. He looked at it twice. At first, he thought it couldn’t be, but with everything that has happened now, he accepted the idea.

He just had a chitchat with his dad when the doorbell rang. He was not surprised when he saw the guest’s face in the video.

Dali-daling lumabas ang daddy niya at nakasunod naman siya.

“Bakit nandito ka?” his dad asked with venom.

“Tito?” Marco didn’t look at his dad for long and stared at him with a quizzical look, while his dad remained its fiery glare.

“I told him,” that was Gene’s only answer.

“Let’s go,” aya ni Marco.

“O-”

“Boojie!! Sasama ka pa rin matapos ang ginawa niya?” pagpigil sa kanya ng daddy niya habang nakahawak sa braso niya.

Gene gave a curt nod. “I’ll be fine dad.”

“Be careful,” his dad’s grip softened.
