“Watch it bitch.” I heard someone shout and I just looked over my shoulder to see Logan getting in Dominic’s face and then the shoving started. It wasn’t even second period.
“I can show you a bitch.” Dominic ground out as he bent Logan over and got him in a sleeper hold. “Go look in a mirror.” He said letting go after a few minutes and then walking away as Logan grabbed at his throat and got a few breaths in as he stumbled into some lockers to steady himself.
I watched as he turned to glare at everyone who was looking and had watched the seen play out. “What do you think you are looking at?” He shouted in the hallway and I watched as he grabbed his backpack and then stalked down the opposite way Dominic had gone.
Why did he keep starting things with him? I mean seriously Logan would get his ass beat every time… he knows this; everyone who goes up against Dominic seems to lose. Its not that he was scary to talk to, just get angry.
“Scary isn’t it?” I heard Megan say making me jump around and see her smirking at me.
“What’s scary?” I asked confused as to what she actually meant.
“Dominic himself.” She said and looked down the way he was sitting on his phone.
“Not really… I sit next to him in AP CHEM and he doesn’t seem too bad.” I said only telling her about the talking nicely.
“So, how late were you?” She smirked at me as we made our way down the hallway.
“Not past the 5 minute penalty.” I said relief through my voice as I smiled at her.
“Good… so we can go do something after school?” She asked and I knew that I was letting her down because I couldn’t. She didn’t want to hang around Logan and Piper anymore since they hurt her and almost ruined our chances with the competition.
“I have work.” I said and she seemed to deflate.
“What time do you get off?” She asked and I just bit my lip.
“5ish.” I supplied and she nodded excitedly.
“That’s great, we can go and catch a movie after going to get dinner?” She asked begging and putting her hands together and sticking out her bottom lip.
“Fine.” I had to agree. To tell the truth I would say yes or whatever to anyone who gave me that type of face… it was my weakness.
I walked to our free period meeting spot only to see Dominic draped across where my locker is. I watched as he glanced and then then made a face saying he had to talk to me. I told her Megan to go on without me and that I needed something from my car.
She nodded not suspecting a thing and when I started going towards my locker for my keys she went around the corner at the end of the hall.
“I hope you know she isn’t coming with us.” Dominic hissed and I just raised an eyebrow at him.
“Don’t worry I wouldn’t subject you to be social.” I said opening my locker and getting my keys out just to make sure I show them to Megan just in case she might suspect something.
“What are you doing later?” He asked when I closed my locked and turned to walk away.
“Teaching you little sister how to dance our part.” I said and he gave me a plain look.
“After that.” He said and my mind went to the plans I made with Megan not even 5 minutes ago.
“A movie and dinner.” I said and seemed to glare at me.
“You have a boyfriend?” He asked and I just wondered where he got that.
“No. Me and my friend Megan are going out tonight, so that just means that even if you didn’t want to harass me like you will be doing tomorrow you wouldn’t because she is going to be there.” I said crossing my arms and enjoying my little tormenting.
“So no boyfriend?” He seemed to become tense as I just watched him watch me.
“What did I just say?” I asked and huffed letting my arms fall in irritation.
“You said that you were going out with your friend Megan.” He said getting louder.
“Before that.” I encouraged like he was a dog trying to roll over for a treat.
“No?” he asked and I just clapped and nodded at him before turning and walking down the hall.
He didn’t say anything else and I didn’t feel his gaze as I walked away so I guessed he took his answer and went to class.
Good.
It dawned on me that he actually seemed to care if I had a boyfriend or not, but I just brushed it off thinking he would have flipped out asking why I didn’t just ask him to be lead with me in the competition.
It also dawned on me that he and I have actually talked outside of the studio. For the first time in two years, which was when Maddie started dancing at my mom’s studio, we talked about anything else besides time of pick up and dancing.
And to be truthful, it was awkward and just unneeded.
I walked into the library walking to the back and start to study with Megan, yet I couldn’t stop thinking about Dominic and I’s talk earlier.
It just made me think about what he really would do if I did have a boyfriend? Quit? Forget about me? I would hope so.
If I got a boyfriend then he would be a dancer…then he could take Dominic’s place. But then I would have to spend even more time in the studio to perfect his part.
I sighed heavily thinking about that and deciding that Dominic in this case is the better option.
