UNTIL THE END

Chapter Twenty Three

A few days passed and Adaline walked along the road back towards the fields where she had gone with Noah a while back. She felt the nostalgia fill back into her head as she remembered them walking along this road holding hands. Before also remembering this was where he now went with Maria.

She had decided to go for a walk and hoped she wouldn't bump into Noah and Maria but also sort of wanted to. She guiltily liked to hurt herself by seeing them as she really just wanted to see if he still had moved on.

Although it was stupid she still had a tiny feeling deep down that he would come back to her, he would erase all that happened and come back and be with her again.

She missed him dearly but she knew there was no way he was coming back. Noah hated her and now so did Maria, apparently she was a jealous type and didn't like Adaline for the history she had with Noah and how she worried he may come running back, just as much as Adaline dreamed he would.

Adaline walked down the path and across the field hoping to go for a swim. She was going to the stream to swim for a while after finding it quite peaceful the first few times.

Being close to summer now and much hotter she needed somewhere to cool down from the hot beating sun and the stream was just the place.

She got to the oak tree and slipped off her summer dress revealing herself into a black bikini with ruffles along the outside.

She began walking up the hill towards the stone cliff at the top to dive in, the exhilarating feeling she got from doing this reminded her back to her cheerleading days.

She stood along the top as she peered around before she noticed two people sat alongside the river further up from where she had placed her stuff, sitting together.

She groaned as she noticed it was Noah and Maria and watched as they giggled and rolled around like the lovely couple they were on the picnic blanket.

She felt sick just watching them and instantly hating them even more for just being annoying. She sighed as she stared over before noticing Noah turn and spot her.

She quickly tried to hide hoping he didn't see her watching him. She didn't want him to think she still cared and thought he would change his mind so she tried to cover it up by acting like she wasn't bothered anymore and had forgotten all about him.

Which wasn't working out very well for her considering he got up and started to walk over to her as she stood above him on the cliff.

She panicked before jumping off the side, not preparing herself which caused her to land funny as she hit the water hard.

"Adaline!" Noah shouted as he rushed over to her as she fell to the surface her body floating limp.

"Adaline! Adaline can you hear me!" Noah shouted as he dragged her limp body out of the water and onto the riverside.

She could hear him shouting but she couldn't open her eyes. Was she dead? No of course not she didn't fall that far? Then why wasn't she waking up? She thought in her head before she jolted awake.

She spluttered and coughed up water as she opened her eyes and saw Noah above her staring down with panic in his eyes as he held her up against him.

"Hey! Hey it's okay it's okay I've got you" he said gently as he stroked her head as she coughed up water and struggled to breath before heavily catching her breath back.

"See she's okay, probably just trying to get your attention" Maria shouted from over the way still sat at the picnic blanket clearly not fazed by the fact Adaline had just fell off a cliff but you know.

Noah just ignored her and kept his focus on Adaline his eyes wide as he gazed into hers deeply as she laid there.

"Are you alright? You had quite the fall?" Noah said laughing as Adaline then winced going to touch her head and felt a huge bump at the top.

"Oh yeah, might want to get some ice on that, seems painful" he teased as he looked at it.

Just then Adaline remembered she was in her bikini and freaked sitting up right and panicking.

Noah noticed and stared as Adaline stood up right awkwardly trying to hide herself but it was no use.

Just as his eyes scanned down her perfectly sculpted body, she stood awkwardly with her arms crossed trying to cover herself.

Noah just laughed as he noticed Adaline had began to blush and realised she must be embarrassed he was seeing her in such little clothing.

For a moment he forgot all about Maria and was focused on being with Adaline having all the feelings rush back to him.

"Babe? What's taking so long? She's fine so come back over so we can continue our date?" Maria whined.

Adaline just stood, as Maria stormed over with a towel and flung it at her before Adaline quickly wrapped it around herself.

"God, can't you for once stop being so desperate, literally throwing yourself at him. He's my boyfriend alright, he's moved on stop trying to take him away from me" Maria snapped and Adaline just stared at her baffled.

"I-" Adaline went to say but Noah but a hand out to Adaline to stop her and spoke himself.

"Alright Maria, don't talk to Adaline like that" Noah said sternly as he turned to her before looking over at Adaline.

She was surprised he had stood up for her, she assumed he hated her and would allow Maria to say whatever and agree with her but clearly he didn't.

"Adaline fell alright..leave it out" Noah snapped and Maria looked taken back that he had snapped at her.

"Right well if you want to believe that then fine, I'm going home" Maria said storming off back over to grab her things.

"Noah, you're supposed to come after me when I say that, not stand there!" Maria whined as she stomped her foot.

"No, Maria alright I'm not here to be at your every beck and call. Go home for all I care, I'm staying to help my friend" Noah snapped back and Maria looked stunned at the fact he had just said that.
