They eventually ended up at the stables where Adaline plopped herself down onto a hay barrel and turned away from Noah crossing her arms.
"Adaline look I'm sorry alright, I didn't mean to snap at you like that. I sure as hell don't think you're just some preppy girl" he continued saying but Adaline just continued to look away not making eye contact. She had, had enough of people like him who thought they knew her so well just by what they could see.
"Yeah well I do think you're just some arsehole who thinks he knows everything" Adaline snapped back finally acknowledging him before storming off towards the horses.
"Look Adaline I promise you I'm not okay, I just got angry when you said I wasn't smart because I lived in the countryside so I snapped. You aren't some preppy girl and you sure as hell don't think you're perfect" Noah added on desperately feeling guilty for snapping at her like that.
"Good okay, because I'm not..and I don't think you're stupid in fact I think you're quite smart for..a farm boy" Adaline admitted laughing at that last bit, Noah chuckled too. Just then Adaline turned round and hurried off towards the horses.
"Adaline; don't you want my help maybe you-oh" Noah went to say as he watched Adaline grab a saddle and sling it over one of the horses before climbing up and onto the horse, shocking Noah.
"Well, are we doing this or not?" she snapped back and Noah stood a moment trying to figure out if he really was witnessing her right now.
This girl was full of surprises.
Noah hopped onto the horse next to her and before he could say anything Adaline raced ahead, cantering through the fields.
"Race you!" she shouted
Noah quickly followed after her, trying to keep up as she rushed ahead.
"Hey wait up!" Noah shouted but Adaline ignored him.
"Do you even know what a race is Noah?!" Adaline shouted back behind her as she laughed.
They raced along the fields, the wind blowing in her hair as she laughed feeling the adventure and adrenaline kick in. It wasn't some cheerleading pyramid competition but it was much better.
They finally stopped down by a stream, hopping off the horses as Adaline guided hers to the stream to give it a drink.
"You never told me you could ride a horse?" Noah questioned shocked.
"You never asked" Adaline snapped back sassily as she brought her hair round and combed through it with her fingers.
"When did you learn then?" Noah asked again.
"Riding lessons since I was little, my mother and father thought since they were away so much they might as well involve me into some clubs to fill my spare time" Adaline exclaimed.
She then walked over to the stream and stood down on the river bank. Noah followed and stood down next to her.
"You're full of surprises you know that" Noah said now stood on the edge of the river bank hill overlooking the stream alongside.
"You've not even seen the half of them yet" Adaline teased back.
"Well, maybe I could" Noah said becoming more serious now.
He gazed deeply into Adaline's eyes and she looked up at him unsure of what was happening. Was he going to kiss her? But they hadn't even known each other that long? Although she did admit these past few days they've grown to have quite a connection.
"I like you Adaline Bowman, you're different" he said as he tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. Her usual signature move, which made her think maybe he'd caught onto hers.
"Different?" Adaline questioned softly.
"Yeah different, you aren't like other girls. You have surprises to you and I like that about you" Noah admired and Adaline looked away feeling herself blush.
She hadn't known Noah that long however she felt a real connection to him, and apparently he did too. Someone about them both, surprised each other, they were different, new, someone they hadn't both met before.
Maybe it was just being away from home, but Adaline really liked this new scenery. Being out here in the countryside was so much more interesting then back home. She couldn't remember the last time she had felt so free and alive.
The sun was beginning to go down, it was glistening over the water creating a ripple effect. Adaline and Noah stood on the river bank close to one another.
"When I first came here, I expected to hate it. I thought it would be a nightmare and I would eventually run away and try and get back home. But something changed, I began to actually enjoy it here and kind of wish it was like this at home. It's normally just me alone at home as my parents are always working but here I'm surrounded by family all the time and never alone" Adaline admitted gazing down beginning to feel the tears burn up in her eyes.
It was true, she did wish things were like this at home. She was so sick of her parents always being busy and never having time for her, they rarely had meals together anymore let alone spend time together. She can't remember the last time they went out together or on holiday.
Noah just held around Adaline's face clearly feeling pity for her that her life was that way, he wished she could feel happy and not feel alone but he knew there was nothing he could do about that. But he did know he could make her feel as much involved here and not alone like when she was back home.
