She gasped as she noticed fairy lights hung through the branches and a little picnic blanket laid out on the grass along with some food and cups gently placed down with cushions around the outside. She felt herself smile widely as she got closer before Noah noticed her and put the food down before rushing over.

"You're here! so..like your surprise?" Noah said holding onto Adaline's hands turning back to show off what he'd done. She smiled as she opened her mouth in shock overwhelmed with happiness at the effort he'd gone to for her.

"I love it..what gave you the idea to-" Adaline went to say but Noah cut her off turning back to her.

"Charlotte..she sort of gave me the idea when I asked what to do for you. Being a guy, I don't really know much about these things" Noah replied laughing before he lead Adaline over and they sat down onto the picnic blanket.

They sat and chatted and ate as they got to know each other more. Adaline had never felt more content with someone before and didn't ever want to leave Noah's side, she loved being around him and felt happy constantly when she was with him.

"So, you're telling me you're an only child like me?" Noah asked as he placed a grape into his mouth.

"Yep, I kind of wish I did have a sibling though. Would make things a little less lonely at home" Adaline replied laughing as she placed a grape into her mouth too.

"What is that like? You know being left a lot" Noah said as he laid down onto his stomach viewing up at Adaline who sat with her legs to one side.

"Well I guess it's normal now, I'm used to it. I don't mind it to be honest I like the peace and quiet" Adaline admitted.

"It gets like that sometimes at home too. Dads always out working and although I am at times too not as much as him" Noah replied.

"What about your mum, does she work a lot too?" Adaline asked.

"My mum..she- she died when I was young. I don't remember much about her but from what my dad told me she was a hard worker too" Noah said more softly now.

Adaline suddenly felt guilty from bringing up his mother and placed her hand to his rubbing it gently.

"I'm so sorry, it must be so hard not having a mother" Adaline exclaimed.

"Well I've not really know any different. My dads really been the one to raise me so I'm used to it just being me and him" Noah said.

"Well, I think you deal with it wonderfully" Adaline smiled back before she plopped another grape into her mouth.

............

They sat and talked for a while longer, finally getting to know more about each other then they did before. Now, they truly felt like they had known each other for years.
