Chapter Fifty Six

Noah called multiple people that night, he sat at the kitchen table using the fridge as a source of light while he wrote down onto a notepad different names and numbers.

"Hello? Yes, Grandma Daphne. Hi, it's Noah, yes I was just wondering if you are free tomorrow? Yes, I'm planning something very special. Okay, okay thank you I'll see you then" Noah said before he ended the call.

A lot more calls went along like this and eventually Noah had a full list of people written down.

He felt less guilty now after planning the surprise and eventually went up to go to bed.

The next morning, Noah awoke feeling a little happier that maybe he could fix things between him and Lily.

Lily woke up completely unaware of what Noah had planned the night following and came downstairs ready to have breakfast.

Noah stood over by the counter, full of glee as she spun round to see Lily arise down the stairs and over, into the kitchen.

"Good morning sweetheart, pancakes?" Noah asked.

Lily slumped down onto the stool and nodded before Noah placed two pancakes down onto a plate and handed it over to her.

"So, any plans today?" Noah asked subtly wondering whether his daughter would be able to go along with his plan.

"No, all my friends have gone skiing together" Lily stated as she sighed.

"Oh..well never mind we'll have even more fun here" Noah said trying to reassure her.

"Hmm" Lily mumbled to herself before taking another bite of her pancake.

"No really, let's say we play hide and seek first, just like the good old days?" Noah asked full of joy and Lily laughed.

"I'm too old for hide and seek" Lily stated as she finished her pancakes and got up to place her plate in the sink.

"Oh really, old enough for the ultimate hide and seek challenge?" Noah asked back trying to intrigue his daughter.

Lily laughed "Ultimate?" she asked back starting to become interested. One thing her father was good at was making things a lot more fun then they really were.

"Yep ultimate, the hider must find the best hiding spot and the seeker must be the best at seeking" Noah said in a story like voice.

"And you think you're the best seeker in the world?" Lily asked as she crossed her arms.

"Well no, you are the best in the world that's why you will seek and I will hide. I bet you will never be able to find me" Noah shot back as he pretended to act macho in front of his daughter.

"Oh really? We'll see about that, I know all the best hiding spots in this house" Lily shot back as she tried to raise herself higher.

"Are you sure about that" Noah said raising an eyebrow before chuckling.

"Yes certainly" Lily replied, mimicking his actions.

"Then it's on" Noah snapped back as he held his hand out for Lily to shake.

"Deal" she said confidently as she shook his hand forcefully.

"Alright, time to count seeker" Noah said as he signaled Lily to the corner of the kitchen to count.

"Fine" Lily snapped as she walked over getting ready to win at this children's game.

Noah on the other hand was prepared for more than just a silly children's game. He had picked that game especially for his plan.

Unaware, but outside in the garden was all of Lily's family and close friends, hiding. Noah was going to go and hide with them but in a more obvious place so when Lily finally spotted him, everyone would arise and surprise her.

Noah had also had the duty of hiring a platform stage so that Lily could perform her solo piece to everyone. This was Noah's way of apologising for missing her recital, and he hoped it was enough.

"Okay, 1...2...3...4" Lily began to recite as Noah rushed off outside to hide with the others.

"Ssssh sshh alright, alright everyone now it's time to be quiet. Lily will be here soon, she's an amazing seeker and will find me in no time" Noah stated as everyone quietened and got into their hiding spots.

Noah went over the plan to everyone once again, to make sure everyone was ready for the surprise ahead of them.

"93...94...95..96..97..98..99..100..okay ready or not here I come!" Lily shouted and from outside the muffled shout was heard and everyone began to giggle and whisper getting excited.

Noah purposely positioned himself hidden just behind the greenhouse just where he knew was one of Lily's significant hiding places and waited for her to find him.

He peeked round and watched as she searched every room before coming outside.

The patio door swung open as she pattered across the pathway and searched around the front of the garden before making her way over to where Noah was hiding.

She leant around and spotted him squatted down behind the back and laughed.

"Found you" she stated as Noah got up, a wide smile across his face.

"It appears you did, well done, you win this time" Noah teased as he shook Lily's hand and they laughed.

"But..the thing is in hide and seek you're supposed to find everyone" Noah began to say as he walked slowly backwards to stand in front of the rows of hedges where everyone else was hidden.

Lily oblivious followed him and stood in front of Noah unaware of what was about to happen.

"Yes? I found you, no one else is playing" Lily questioned back confused.

"Well actually, that's not entirely true.." Noah said as he signalled behind him and everyone leaped up and cheered.

"SURPRISE!!!" Everyone cheered loudly as they clapped and laughed, excited to be surprising Lily.

Lily just stood taken back, completely overwhelmed about what was going on. Her mouth partially open as she brought up her hand to cup around her gaping mouth.

She felt the tears prick at her eyes as she felt the emotions take over.

Noah laughed before stepping forward and Lily ran ahead and leaped into his arms wrapping herself around him and crying into his neck.

"Thankyou..thank you" Lily cried with joy as Noah hugged around her tightly and felt himself tear up a little too.

"You're welcome darling, you deserve this after how I treated you" Noah stated before he slowly put Lily back down.
