Noah and Lily spent a wonderful time at Aunt Carols and visited Noahs father at times as well throughout their stay. They had decided to leave early in the morning and before leaving watch the sun rise over the hills and acres of land.
Back home it was towns and rows of suburban houses so the view wasn't as pretty, but in the countryside it was something spectacular and anyone who lived to see this view everyday of their life, was incredibly lucky.
.....
Lily rubbed at her eyes as she opened them slightly and peered around at the wooden bedroom she had been staying in. The wooden vanity table and wardrobe along with the window seat was a good asset to the room and helped in making it feel very cosy.
Lily remembered the stories Great Aunt Carol had told her about how her mother used to stay in that room when she first ever came to stay with her and how wonderful it was that Lily was now staying in that same room, the same room her mother had truly found herself and become a young woman.
Lily got up and sat down onto the window seat, she had on her pale yellow nightie and slippers which Great Aunt Carol had laid perfectly at the bottom of her bed when they had first arrived, along with fresh sets of towels, soap and little chocolates on their pillow. Lily could tell her aunt got excited about having guests stay.
She gazed out of the window at the view, still not used to how amazing it was before noticing a figure laying down on the hill below.
She rubbed at her eyes to fully awaken herself before making out her father laying with his hands behind his head, staring off into the distance as he laid against the titled small hill.
She struggled with the handle to the window as she creaked it open and shouted down.
"Morning Daddy!" a big grin across her face as she watched him turn and squint his eyes looking up to the top window in the roof of the farm house and notice his daughter leaning out waving down to him.
"Morning Poppet! Why don't you come down and join me, we can watch the sunrise!" Noah shouted up and watched as Lily nodded enthusiastically before hopping down from the window, disappearing from view.
Lily rushed over to the wooden wardrobe and slung her dressing gown around her to keep herself warm as she was only in a nightie and slippers before running down the stairs and out to where her father laid.
Noah turned to see Lily stood above him and leant his arm down for her to cuddle in next to him. She snuggled into his neck and looked round as they laid quietly embraced in one another's arms and watched as the sun slowly rose over the horizon, lighting up the acres of fields and forests further ahead.
In that moment Lily and Noah both felt at piece and like the world had come to a stop and everything began to slowly move, calmly and okay.
Noah turned and gently brushed Lily's hair away form her forehead before kissing it.
"I love you Lils" he spoke softly.
"I love you too daddy"
.........
"Pancakes for the road?" Aunt Carol said as she turned holding the spatula in her hand.
The rain began to pour outside and thunder was heard faintly in the distance. The weather had really worsened from earlier on that day and after that beautiful calm sunrise, suddenly the day had gotten bad and the weather had turned into a storm.
"No, no" Noah chuckled as he held around Lily's head.
"I think we'll be okay" he added but he turned down to notice Lily staring back up at him with a pout on her face.
"What?" Noah questioned.
Lily just continued to pout until he gave in, as she knew forewell he would.
"Alright fine, but just the one" Noah exclaimed as he stepped into the kitchen and took a pancake from Aunt Carol before gleefully, Lily took it from her father and tucked into it without a seconds thought.
"Mind child, do breath between mouthfuls" Aunt Carol laughed as she watched Lily quickly eat the delicious pancake.
"Oh I am so going to miss you guys being here.." Aunt Carol admitted as she sighed staring over to Lily who was now holding her hands together trying to plead for another pancake.
"Lily enough, no more pancakes for you. Now go wait in the car, I need to carry a few more bags through"
Aunt Carol kissed Lily on the cheek before embracing her in a hug, earlier on that morning Oliver and Charlotte had already said their goodbyes before they all went down to the farm market with their father.
"Hm" Lily sulked as she stomped off to the car leaving Noah and Aunt Carol in the kitchen alone.
"Please so come visit again soon!" Aunt Carol said as she held around Noah's arms.
"Yes, we will. Lily really wants to come down in summer and go swimming in the lake with the other guys" Noah admitted.
"Oh yes, that'll be brilliant. I do wish summer would get him, im so tired of this crappy weather it is no help for the farm whatsoever" Aunt carol added as she stared out the window with a glum look to her face.
The thunder began to get louder and the rumbled down.
"Alright well I better start loading the car, hopefully we can beat the storm before it arrives later today" Noah said as he hugged Aunt Carol goodbye.
"Yes, now you be careful. We haven't had a bad storm like this since-" Aunt Carol went to say but Noah cut her off.
"Around 17 years ago" Noah blurted out as he remembered quiet precisely when the time had been.
"Yes, that'll be when" Aunt Carol added as both her and Noah remembered and thought back to 17 years ago.
