(Ali POV)
It's been a month since Emily has left. We're doing pretty good...
I'm awoken by a loud thud, then baby wails.
I shoot out of bed and race towards the babies rooms.
I check in Lily's room. She's okay. She's asleep in her crib.
I rush to Asher's room and find him on the floor, crying. Did he climb out of his crib?
I race over to him and pick him up, cuddling him. He's still crying really hard.
"Shh buddy, mommy's here, you're okay." I say quietly.
"Ow" he pouts and rubs the left side of his forehead, where a red mark is forming. Hopefully it won't bruise.
That's his first word? Ow? Great.
I snuggle him closer and he buries his head in the crook of my neck while I rub his back and kiss where he hit his head.
"You gotta be careful, baby." I say and rub the red mark slightly.
He's starting to get a little egg on his head.
But he's returning to his normal, lovable, rambunctious self.
I change his diaper and bring him downstairs and make breakfast for us since he's cut quite a few of his teeth in the past month and so has Lily.
"Who wants some breakfast?" I say in a baby voice as I put a bib on him and prepare his food.
I made some scrambled eggs and so I give him some since they're soft enough for him to eat and small pieces of toast and some of my milk in a bottle.
Then I hear Lily's cries.
I first prepare her a plate and bottle and set it on her high chair and leave Asher in his for a minute.
I rush up to Lily's room, give her kisses and cuddles, change her diaper, and bring her downstairs for breakfast.
After a few minutes of me feeding them, I let them into their play room and they run around playing with their toys. I eat my breakfast, and my laptop rings. Thats odd. Usually it only does that for Skype parent-teacher conferences but that's in the beginning of the year...
I open my laptop and answer. Then Emilys face appears on the screen. My jaw falls to the floor.
Emily and I haven't had any sort of contact since the day she left.
"Hey baby." She says with a giant smile.
"Hey." I breathe out with a big smile and tears in my eyes.
"Baby don't cry. I'm okay." Emily says as I wipe my tears.
"I shouldn't cry. It's just that I miss you so much." I say.
"I miss you too. And the babies. Where are they by the way?" She asks.
"They're in the playroom, want me to get them?" I ask.
"Please!" Emily says.
"Okay." I say.
"Lily! Asher!" I say loudly.
