After the lunch period, Lola felt a bit more relaxed. She went through her annoyingly repetitive day without feeling guilty or villainous. She was proud of herself for talking to Victoria like a regular person would.
As her thoughts began to drift off, she hears Mrs. Roberts plant a piece of paper on her desk. Before her teacher walks away, she sees a gentle smile on her lips.
Lola's heart pounds in her chest, the noise thumping against her ears. She flips the paper over only to see a worksheet. She lets out an annoyed sigh. The hopeful part of her thought it was the test. Lola thought Mrs. Roberts was smiling because she did well.
Pushing the thoughts aside, she works on the equations given. Sure enough, time flies by and she finds herself cringing when the school bell rattles against her ears.
When the teacher dismisses her, Lola rushes home. She was most definitely craving her mothers affection after this tiring day.
Her mother greets her at the door. The pair trap each other in a hug before Lola tries to go inside.
"Wait darling, we are going to go out to a restaurant today."
Lola's eyes widen in shock. It's been a while since they've gone out. Nowadays, they just eat at home. Putting her curiosity as to the reason why aside, she beamed and followed her mother to the car.
