The room goes silent. Suddenly, Lola feels like all the angst she had trying to hide it wasn't getting better poured out. She felt revealed and terrified all at the same time.

Then, without her even realizing, Victoria pulls her best friend onto the couch and wraps her in an embrace. Her arms carefully weaving around the girl in fear she'll shatter in her arms.

Lola didn't even feel it, but tears started spilling. Wetness immediately drips down her cheek onto her best friends shoulder.

"I feel so relieved," Lola shakily says. But, her voice was muffled with Victoria holding her gently.

"It's going to be okay, Lola. It's going to be okay."

Those words made her want to rip out her hair and yell no, it's won't get better. But, she felt an undeniable trust with her. It felt as if anything she said will always be the truth. Even though she knew it wouldn't be the case, she believed her for a flicker of a second.

"Lola, did this happen because.. Because of.." Victoria stuttered.

"Just say it, don't worry I won't get upset."

"Did it happen because of your dad?"

All it took was one nod and Victoria spewed out sweet nothings. Lola felt like the world was crashing in on her. She was suffocating yet was in ecstasy. She finally wasn't alone. Lola knows she's still sinking slowly. But her hope was reborn and flourished within the two girls.

Maybe she will rise back up one day.

One day.
