A soft knock was heard at the door and Victoria opened it, stumbling a little bit. Lola immediately pops up beside her and helps her upstairs. She could tell her best friend was in rough condition from the school day.
"Why'd you have to open the door, Vic? You're in such bad condition, you should've let your mom come or something."
She shook her head kind of sadly, "She isn't at home. She's working overtime again."
The pair go towards the living room and plop themselves down on the couch comfortably beside each other. The taller one immediately rests her head against the others shoulder.
After a couple minutes of comfortable silence, Lola breaks it by saying, "Why didn't you tell me earlier?"
"What do you mean?" Victoria looks up and raises and eyebrow. It is visible she put too much pressure on her injured arm and in turn shoots away from her best friend. She clutched her arm in pain as whimpers poured out of her mouth.
Lola tries to get up and find something for her, but, the red-haired girl grabbed her hand and prompted her to stay.
"I'm sorry Lola. I should have told you sooner."
She shook her head in slight dismay, "No no. I get why you kept it from me. But, it still kind of hurt y'know. You are hurting yourself and you didn't even tell me. You shouldn't do that to yourself. You're too beautiful for that."
A small tear slips down Victoria's cheek and she nods without making eye contact.
"Why don't you go talk to someone?" Lola asks.
Victoria immediately begins to shake her head and she says, "No, it's okay. It's one time, it won't happen again."
Lola gives her a pointed glance and doesn't say anything in response. A few seconds tick by before Lola speaks again.
"But I have to admit, I was hiding something from you too."
Her head emerges again and she gazes at Lola with her piercing electric blue eyes, urging for her to continue.
Should she tell her? No one besides Riley knows. But, she feels as though Victoria deserves to know after everything. She is trustworthy enough to keep it a secret. Lola knows it.
"I have death anxiety."
