I have never been away from Wattpad this long

I have never been away from Wattpad this long. I can't even tell you how long it has been. I have tried to come back, but it has been so glitchy lately that every time I did there were problems with it.

That's not even the worst part. Lately, I have heard so many horror stories here. Rampant plagiarism ignored by Wattpad. Ambassadors acting like children and playing with people's writing. Reading people's private messages to take advantage of writers or use their private messages against them. And if you complain you are either ignored or deleted for some contrived violation of a rule that doesn't exist. If you continue they follow you to other social media sites and try and black ball you there if you keep complaining or try to warn others about what they are doing. I know every website has rules and they need to be followed to maintain order. But never in my life have I heard of people being followed to other sites to make sure they aren't bad mouthing your site. That is just juvenile. Does Wattpad need to do a psych exam on employees and ambassadors to make sure it did not hire people that are petty and vindictive? It seems that it's bring your kids to work every day over at Wattpad headquarters.

The Wattpad gods, it seems, are very prone to childish tantrums.

What happens to people whose stories are deleted and who only have their stories written here on Wattpad? Do they lose them forever? Does Wattpad have the right to keep you from your work or simply destroy it?

And whatever happened to Wattpad's promise to stay free? I had no problem with them offering a premium service that removed the ads. I get that. But now I hear premium now offers other added content or services not available on the one with ads. It seems like slowly but surely Premium Wattpad is going to turn into an entirely different animal than regular Wattpad. If it becomes something entirely different then Wattpad is no longer free is it? I compare this to when phone and cable companies slow down their internet for customers who are not paying premium price. It seems like Wattpad is trying to force people who have vested so much time and effort into their work (they get you hooked first, like any good drug dealer would) to upgrade, forgetting their commitment to their writers.

I have no idea what direction Wattpad is going, or if it really cares about anything other than the bottom line. I don't know how it got started, but it doesn't seem to me that writers had anything to do with it. Most writers understand the journey and support each other. Some of the people at Wattpad are losing sight of that or have never understood it.

Now please don't take these comments to mean that everyone involved with Wattpad is like this. That would be nonsense. I know some wonderful ambassadors who love writing and understand writers. I am sure most employees at Wattpad are great too. But it all it takes is a few to create bad experiences for many. Someone needs to be watching out for that and putting a stop to it.

If it wasn't for the writers I have come across here I wouldn't stay either. Wattpad, when it doesn't get in the way, is good for writers. Lately, with it's glitches and internal problems, it hasn't been good for anyone.

I plan to start updating some stories soon. Assuming I am not axed after this one, or if this post isn't deleted. I checked and it does not violate any policies, though lately that does not seem to be a prerequisite for getting accused of it.

I hope all you writers are getting some good writing done and are having great success with your stories. You guys are the best thing Wattpad has going for it.
