CHAPTER THIRTY-FOUR

CROSS
Myla went back in the office after her appointment. She caught me working and talking to my secretary Kristine.
"I'll wait," aniya nang mag excuse ako.
I beamed, at tila unang beses ko yatang nagawa iyon sa kaniya. "Okay!"
Kristine and I both entered the conference room where most of the BOD were sitting.
Madami na namang threat ang company kaya halos lahat ng BOD at stockholders were serious during and after the meeting. Together with Kristine nagpahuli kaming lumabas sa conference room, where one of the newest BOD was still not exiting the room.
He was fixing his things on the long table and can't able to detach the plug on the female socket. Nagmadaling tinulungan ni Kristine ang lalaki. And it's visible to my sight how embarrassed he was the time Kristine pulled the plug carefully.
Napakamot batok ang baguhan pero matalinong lalaki. "Thank you, Miss Kristine!"
He's thin, tall and shaggy, but still pleasant. If he could able to add some lean, then he would become more handsome by that.
Kristine smiled and looked at me then. He lies his hand in front of me, "Nice to meet you po, Sir Cross."
"Nice to meet you, too, Mister...?" I wait him to introduce his name but I immediately accept his hand with mine.
"Bacardi Del Rey po, Sir." He finally introduces.
I beamed to seem polite and sincere to know him. If I'm not mistaken, he was from the other company where he helped the President to meet the top again after being bankrupt. They say he's intellectually good when it comes to running business. But all of a sudden, the company he helped to survive fired him because of the accusation that he stole a money.
Then now, my father hired him and majority of the shareholders voted him to become one of the BOD despite of the humor. Nabalitaan naman namin na hindi totoo ang akusasyon tungkol sa perang ninakaw niya, he was just blamed dahil sa inggit ng mga employee.
He's like Leonardo DiCaprio on his film himself The Wolf in the Wall Street.
"Wala pa rin ba kayong balita sa kaniya, Sir?" Kristine asked me as we entered the elevator.
I sighed, I don't have to remember those days. And I don't have to answer what she said because I'm not in the right place to accept it. I may be her boss but it's far personal issues.
I went out first and she followed me then. "I wish I could see her again for the last time." I whispered before I twist the knob of door.
I pushed it to enter and I caught Myla in my own seat with closed eyes. While, Kristine stays outside in her place. There is a foreign feeling I just felt when I approached her. Kasabay n'on ang sudden pain through my head.
Tahimik akong napahawak sa aking ulo, also this sting of pain is totally foreign. This is my first time to felt this. Ininda ko saglit ito before I lost my balance, bigla akong napahawak sa swivel chair kung saan nakaupo si Myla and she recognized me then.
