Stevie's POV
Today is the day. My little boy is turning twenty. Every year, there's a little grief in the joy. He's another year older, meaning he's one year farther away from being the baby I dreamed about, cuddled, and nursed. This year especially because instead of making him his favorite meal and putting candles on a cake that he tells me makes him feel like a little kid, I'm giving him away to another women who will care for him and possibly take over any traditions I started with him. Olivia is a wonderful girl and I can't imagine giving him away to someone more worthy and deserving. I try not to think of today as the day I lose my son, but the day I gain a daughter and a grandchild.
The kids got in a couple of nights ago and poor Olivia has been sleeping non-stop. She hasn't been feeling very well and River has been so supportive and lovely. Even Lindsey swells with pride when River mentions taking a meal up to Olivia in bed, or when he asks me how to prepare the loose leaf tea he had no interest in until Olivia began to ask for it. He goes above and beyond and it just shows how much he loves her, as if we had any doubt in our minds before. They are such a sweet couple.
Lindsey kisses my temple, pulling me out of my daydream.
"Feeling okay?" he asks and I smile.
"Yeah, baby, I'm great."
"Need any help? I've got guys setting up the archway, making sure the chairs for the ceremony are set up, though there aren't many. All I have to do is get dressed, check on River and I guess take care of Olivia's parents while you are doing all the actual hard work of pulling this thing together. I'm not stressed, are you stressed?" He says quickly, pressing a hand to his forehead.
"I'm a little stressed but—"
"Can I make you a cup of tea, or would you like me to take over for you? This is supposed to be stress free."
"It's a wedding, Linds. There will be stress but I'm fine. You, my dear, need to relax. Just breathe."
"I am breathing."
"Not well enough. I've never heard you talk that fast, unless you're angry about something. Then you go off on this huge tirade."
"I do not" he argues back and I chuckle.
"Okay, Mr Buckingham. Whatever you say." I tell him casually as I beat eggs for omelettes.
"And why are you up so early?"
"Because we will both be busy. Imagine if I weren't up and you were wound this tight. You would be passed out in the floor by now."
"That's not true, but I am glad you're up so I have someone to talk to. You get me."
"Of course I do. I'm your wife. I've been around you for over twenty years."
"Don't put a number on it, it makes me feel old!"
"Hush. To me, you will always be that young, sexy boy I saw playing guitar at a party with the most beautiful eyes I'd ever seen."
"Is that so?" he asks with a smile, his face only millimeters from mine.
"Uh-huh," I reply. He licks his lips, his eyes dropping to see me biting my lip. He emits a low groan, then presses his lips to mine. I forget what I'm doing, my arms draping lazily around his neck. He presses his body into mine, kissing me again, his lips parting as his tongue begs for entrance. I allow it and I moan into his mouth as we make out like horny teenagers.
"Ew, get a room!" River says, making his presence known and Lindsey and I break our intense lip lock.
"This is a room and we got it. This is my room, that's my room..." Lindsey says, pointing out to the living room. "These are all my rooms. This is my house and if I want to make out with my smokin' wife, I will." I blush, totally embarrassed and Lindsey only makes it worse by smacking my backside. "Ow!" he exclaims, walking over to the counter to survey the fruit basket.
