Hey everyone.
Quick thanks for the enthusiasm and suggestions on the last two parts; I know they were long and I'll try to shorten them from now on.
Unless you prefer the longer ones? Let me know 🙂
Obviously there'll be a few long parts in here (idk how long this'll be but I'm typing on my iPod again so we'll have to see, hey?), but I'll try keep them shortish from now unless suggested otherwise.
*clears throat* ok what are we talking about today? Well dear reader, you're about to find out.
I've just made a sick af cover and I'm happy with it. So good.
Today I wanted to ask you all a question, as this' an idea I've had for a while and thought I'd see if there would be interest in it.
What's the question? Well, I'll ask you!
Sorry, it's True Crime Tuesday so I may lose my track briefly since I'll be typing this in the ads more than during the show I'm watching.
So for a while now I've wanted to do some one-off backstories for some of my stories.
My idea came for this from my third A7X story (not out yet, soz), because someone I have in that story I'm dying to do their backstory as a short story, and I thought to myself, "myself I thought, you should totally do a short story of his backstory and have it as a bonus at the end of the third story".
But then I thought, "instead of doing it at the end of the story, I should do another 'new story' instead and make it a collection of backstories for my other stories!" And boy I had that great idea.
So I thought I'd run this by all of you to see if you have any interest for it! You won't have to read the stories, but if you do you might take interest in the story they're actually from 😊
You won't have to have read the initial story they're from to read the backstory.
So...thoughts? Think this is a good idea? Bad idea? Not an idea but a brilliant suggestion?? Am I getting myself in too deep? Thoughts?
All thoughts and opinions are welcome!! Opinion away!!
So while we're here, I also thought I could go over a few things for backstories if you're interested in tips for writing them?
Yee or nee?
Yee it is then (because it's my bio and I don't need permission to write what I want) haha.
Basically when it comes to backstories, it's pretty well the same as 'normal' stories I guess.
The main thing is: keep it believable. Keep it real and believable.
If you make someone's backstory dark, keep it believable. Believability is not easy to write, I'm not gonna lie.
It's not easy at all but it's what it has to be like.
Backstories are fun to write and read because you get the chance to show your character in depth and give everyone more of an insight on them when they're not the main character in your book.
I don't have much more to say on this...is this enough info on what I wanna do with my backstories and enough info on backstories in general?
I could write more in another part if you're interested.
Let me know thoughts on my idea and if you want more in depth for tips on backstories or any other writing things.
Have a good one 😊
