Setting some sort of terrible three day in a row update trend here; what is going on guys?
As we have recently found out, I am a very harsh and judgemental reader, especially when it comes to fanfics.
Most times, if there is a story that I start and then don't like, I just roll my eyes and abandon all hope, removing the story and never ever bother with it again.
But alas, seems that my standards are slipping!
Have you ever been reading a book, more specifically a fanfic in this case, that is just so bad, that you have no other choice but to keep reading?
Like, you feel compelled to see just how bad it can get?
This isn't me saying this because I happen to have stumbled across one, no, this is me saying this as a whole.
I feel as though we've all had this happen to us at one point or another.
You see the tag you've been searching for, description looks good, cover is decent/passable, everything is in the clear.
You start at chapter one and suddenly realise that...maybe you misjudged l the formalities and it isn't actually written very well.
So, you force yourself through the chapter and BAM! suddenly you've pity voted.
But it doesn't stop here, oh no sir. You feel rather bad for the author; I mean, they're trying right?
You can tell this story means a lot to them, just by the small 2 line A/N they leave behind on the more recent updates.
So...you slide through the next chapter, half reading it and vaguely getting the plot line, yet again sparing that pity vote.
This goes on for the next few chapters and then you reach the latest update, half-heartedly read it, vote, and forget about it.
A couple of weeks later BAM! another update from the excited author who's really excited to get back into updating!
Next thing you know...you can't remember a thing that happened previously so...you just pretend to make sense of it and send a vote their way for encouragement to keep up the dream and the hard work!
For the love of all that is holy, please tell me this isn't solely me that ends up down that railway track.
This seems to have happened quite a lot with me rather recently.
Maybe it's because I seriously wanna read someone else's fanfic, ones that aren't in my absolutely damn perfect D12, yet I have so much trouble finding ones worth my time or that are well written or have good plot lines etc etc.
As previously stated, I am the biggest judgemental bastard of fanfic. By now, we should all know this.
Hell, I'm incredibly judgemental of my own shit, and I write it!
Don't even get me started on my works, ah hahaha
But in all seriousness, yes, some are badly written but there's so much potential if these people had a look at some other works and figured out the correct way to grammar and to spell and to speech mark.
I seriously think I'm going to start up a writing advice book.
I've cemented the idea in my head and the more I've been seeing recently, the more I truly want to help others with their writing.
Let's make fanfic and writing in general fun and awesome again!
Lemme know watcha think.
