Hello.
Sorry I haven't been around much. Haven't been overly busy but GoW 4 has been taking up my time.
Don't tell me how the game ends; I wanna find out for myself. Anyone know of any good GoW fanfics? I'm looking to broaden my horizons.
So a thing or two that I wanted to discuss in here today, if you'd be so kind as to let me say one or two things.
To start with, thank you to everyone for the 33K reads on Outcast and the 4K reads on After Andy.
You guys are the real champs and I love each and every one of you 😘😘
(Even if you haven't read those ones specifically).
Alrighty, number 2 thing I wanna talk about before the third and final.
So remember waaaaaay back when we had a chat about the different universes in stories? How you can make them all different or set them all in the same universe (which is tricky but so worth it)?
While on my way home from work, I had a thought about something.
Aaaaand it's started raining here. Wonderful. More cold weather. Love winter so much 😑
Back on track.
I don't know if I actually mentioned it or not in the universe chapter of this fabulous disaster, but some of the stories I've been working on take place in the same universes as a couple of my current fanfics up here.
I've got the one universe I wanna make my main one so here's what I've been thinking.
Quick universe recap for those of you who have not yet read the previous parts of this:
- the Outcast series' universe
- The Other Side of Andy universe
- TWD/Bands universe
- MIWonderland universe
- A7X series' universe
Off the top of my head anyway. The current five I can think of that I've mentioned prior.
So my idea was that for each of these universes, at the start of any of my stories that aline with one of them, I'd put a thing in the first chapter or a separate part either at the start or end of the story, saying what 'other stories fall into this universe' kinda thing.
Make sense at all or am I just talking complete nonsense...?
Basically like in 'real' books how they have the other stories in the series or the 'written by this author' thing before the book actually starts.
Make more sense now or neh?
I hope it does. Let me know whatcha think because I thought it would be a brilliant thing to do because then people would know when reading these other stories, what else happens in that universe!
Let me know 🙂
Now, onto the real topic of today. There is still one tiny thing to add after this 'third and final' part which clearly isn't the final part of this rambling session.
So I read one or two fanfics nowadays. Rare occurrence, I know.
But there's something I've noticed very recently and I dunno how often it happens outside of the fanfic realm, but for now we shall focus solely on the fanfic spectrum because that's where I see it most.
For some reason, when people are writing relationships in fanfics, it all happens way too quickly.
Chapter one, they meet and by chapter two, they've confessed their undying love for each other.
There's a fanfic I've been more or less keeping up with (it's not the one I said I'd be happy to read, it's another Andliet so don't fret if you read this; you're doing fine and you know who you are), and the whole idea of the story is great, but it's moving too quickly and to be honest, it's kinda scrambling my brains.
What's left anyway.
I'll use Andliet stories as an example because they seem to be showing up more and more now (I'm so glad I'm not the only one writing them anymore; when I first started on here way back on 2013, there was fuckin' nothing to do with Andliet and I'm sure that's why I struggled. Not because my stories are bad...not at all...)
I get that you wanna hook them up because it's amazing to have people together etc etc etc.
But for the love of Johnny Christ, please make it believable and drag it out instead of having it in the second chapter if they've only met in the first.
I can not spell today and it's driving me mad.
This Andliet I've been reading, like I said, great concept and alright grammar, but dude, slow down and make me wanna keep reading.
If it all happens in the first few chapters, I ain't stickin' around to find out what happens, yeah? It's not just the relationship alone but the whole pace of the entire story; it's all moving too quickly.
So not just story relationships; story pace in general. Pace it well.
I'm not saying I'm the best author in the world; I'm no Stephen King or Joseph Delaney.
Far from it.
But I take pride in what I do and I get irked when people can't be bothered to do something I love.
I understand that not everyone can write real well and it's hard and it takes some people longer to grasp the writing tree's branches and haul themselves up to greatness, but please try and read through your own stuff.
If you don't read through your own stuff, you won't know what it's like from an outside perspective.
Hell, I've read my own stuff multiple times (no, not because I'm very specific on what I read and hardly anything is decent for me nowadays), and I still pick up on mistakes and boy does it make me mad.
I may be reading the Outcast series again. I already know it off by heart so leave me alone please.
Please don't; I like talking to people on here 😊
Back to my point.
If you read through your stuff a few days after you finish it (a technique I use), and you feel it's moving too quickly or something doesn't sit right with you, it's probably the same with the readers.
It's the same as wrestling in a way: there's always that smart mark who will pick up on something.
Always write for that person who will pick up the mistakes. The person who can't wait to point out what's wrong.
Don't give them anything to make a big deal of.
I feel like I'm preaching.
Once again, not everyone can and it takes practice and time and I'm not that fucking great and don't think I'm amazing but I take pride in my work and I try really hard so please don't think I'm being mean and like I'm being harsh and judgy; I wanna help! I just really like seeing these aspiring writers succeed and hope I can help in anyway possible.
It's hard, believe me, it's hard as hell, but you will get there and I hope that this has somehow helped someone in some way with their writing.
I want you all to succeed!!
Before I leave, a quick shout out to lillyeve16 for being amazing. Go check out their stuff; it's good stuff.
Also another shout out to sauropodomorpha for being amazing as well; glad you enjoyed my works and I appreciate the comments, votes, reads and the dedication.
Thanks so much 😊
I was just reading through this whole thing and realise it's been over a year since I first decided to make this bio and put it out for you all.
June 3rd was the first one so holy hell.
Alright, I'll leave now.
You're welcome.
Have a good time until we chat next.
