chapter 37: Hunting

Jimin's POV

~~~Winter (1½ months later)~~~

Ellie, Hoseok hyung and I decided to go hunting. We travel through the snowy white forest, trying to find something to eat. Ellie has already killed two bunnies with the bow and arrow she found a few days ago.

"Guys look." Ellie says to us. She points her finger in front of us and we look at what she is trying to show us. "A deer. That is our target." Hyung tries to get a bit closer, but not too close. He then aims his bow at the deer and shoots it.

The arrow hits the deer's side causing the deer to run. "After it." Hyung says. We all chase after the deer. The deer was soon out of our sight, but the trail of blood is still there. We follow it till the middle of a small vacant civilization. We see the dead deer and walk up to it when we hear a noise coming from a bush. We look around and out came 2 men. I pull out my gun while hyung and Ellie aim their bows at the men.

"Hello...we just want to talk." The older looking man says.

"Any sudden movements and one of these will end up right between your eyes." Ellie tells them. "Same goes to your little buddy over there." She motions to the younger man next to him.

Ellie speaks again. "So, what do you want?"

"Name's David." The older man with a brown mustache and beard says. "This here is my friend James." He notions to his friend. "We belong to a large group. Women and children are all very hungry."

"So are we-women and children-are all very hungry too." Ellie say mimicking him. David then speaks up.

"Well, maybe we could um, trade you for some of that meat. What do you need? Weapons, clothes-" David asks us.

Hyung cuts him off. "Medicine! Do you have any antibiotics?" I slowly turn over to hyung just to see his pleading eyes.

"We do. Back at our camp. You can follow-" I cut David off.

"We wont be following you. Your friend here can go and get it and come back. Then the deer is all yours." David looks over to James and nods to him.

"Two bottle of penicillin and a syringe. Make it fast." James widens his eyes and hesitates to leave. "Hurry." David tells him. James then leaves.

We keep our weapons pointing at David while guarding the dead deer. "Um, do you mind if we take shelter from the cold?" David asks us. We all look at each other and back to him.

"Take the deer inside with us." Ellie tells the man. David walks to us and grabs the deer by its long antlers. He drags the deer while we follow him into a cabin looking shelter. As we got in, we rest a bit. The deer's body is in the corner.

As I rub my hands together to warm myself up, I hear clicking sounds. "Crap." I whisper out. I stand up with everyone else copy me. As we Look around the room a Clicker run in through the open metal door. I pull out my pistol and hyung pulls out his rifle. We shoot at Clicker at the same time killing it.

"Guys, cover the windows. We can't let anymore in." David tells us. We began trying to barricade the windows and shut the door. During our process, Runners and Clickers began making their way in through the still open windows.
